Baby Bible Bump

Mommy discovered a tiny lump on Janson's left palm last Thursday. The next day, we brought him to see the paediatrician at Pantai Cheras. He suspected it could be a cyst and suggested us to bring him to see an orthopedist.

Upon my request, he referred an orthopedist, also at the same hospital. Unfortunately, the orthopedic had just gone out for lunch. So, we decided to go for ours as well.

After lunch, we went to the orthopedist's clinic, registered Janson and waited for our turn. Thank God there was only one patient before us. Soon, our turn came. We entered the room. I sat with Janson next to the orthopedist and told him the problem. He took Janson's left palm, rubbed the the lump and said, 'It's ganglion.' I asked, 'Nothing to do with the bone?' He said no and further explained that adults could get it too and it would go away on its own. Not satisfied, I asked again, 'Are you sure it has nothing to do with the bone?' He gave an affirmative reply.

I googled on 'ganglion'. There's a Wikipedia on it. A ganglion cyst (also known as a bible bump) is a swelling that often appears on or around joints and tendons in the hand or foot.

Why is it also known as a bible bump? Reason being one traditional method of treating a ganglion tumor was to strike the lump with a large, heavy book, causing the cyst to rupture and drain into the surrounding tissues. Since even the poorest households often possessed a Bible (referring to the large family Bibles), this was commonly used, which led to the nicknaming of ganglion cysts as "Bible Bumps" or "Gideon's Disease."

Officially October 1

Janson is exactly 5-month-and-1-day old today.

Thank God for His protection over baby Janson.

We look forward to a new phase of growth.

He started teething last month. (Click here to see his first tooth in mommy's blog).

Thank God for mommy who takes good care of Janson.

Thank God for grandparents who shower him with love.

Thank God, most of all, for His love for our family.

Baby put on a neubilizer

Janson had it bad last Wednesday.
Though it was a public holiday for Selangor, daddy and mommy had to work 'overtime'.
Daddy was in nanny's place while mommy worked from 9-5.
Thank God for so many who took care of him besides us:

Father's First: A soft knock

Janson is officially 4-month-and-1-day old.

Thank God for His grace and love over His children.

Despite human carelessness, Janson has been protected from serious harm and danger.

Just about almost 2 hours ago, I lifted him a bit too high. His head knocked against the metal ledge.

8=(

Mommy had to pacify him and 'beat' daddy. So, daddy had to say sorry.

Father, we just want to commit Janson into Your loving hands. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

No flash floods for us

The Star Online reported flash floods in various parts of KL last night.

We left PJ after 7 PM.

Instead of using Federal Highway though it is the shortest way from PJ to Cheras, we use the Old Klang Road way on some weekdays. Yesterday was no exception.

We reached Pantai Cheras Hospital at almost 8 PM.

Janson wasn't feeling well. He had a cold, nose blocked, cough. Thank God his body temperature was normal.

Thank God that we reached home safely after the visit to the doctor.

Janson can flip!

Today, as soon as we reached home after work, my wife put Janson on the mattress in the living room. Then, we walked away to our bedroom.

'There! He can flip already!' my mom exclaimed. I turned back. YEAH. He was indeed lying on his stomach, chest up!

Actually, he started flipping earlier this month. Each time he flipped, he struggled with his left hand pressed by his own body weight. Poor thing. After a while, he would get frustrated and whimper.

This time, on his own, he could slowly edge his left hand out while exerting more strength on his right hand to lift his upper body up. No crying!

Praise God! We were so happy to see this development. Janson, the new flip baby.
