The search has stopped. What now?

The police have ordered residents from a condominium tower located near the landslide site in Bukit Antarabangsa to evacuate immediately. According to Bernama, Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said that there were fears that the building "may collapse at any time". The Public Works Department has found the area where the Kyoto Garden Condominium is located to be risky. The condo sits on a hillside near the landslide area. The disaster hit early yesterday, burying 14 houses at the upmarket suburb in northeast Kuala Lumpur, cutting off access for thousands of residents and disrupting water, electricity and phone lines. Among the four dead was a 20-year-old who was found by his father buried under the rubble still clutching a mobile phone, the Star reported. The search and rescue operation ended at 4.30pm today when the 500-strong team confirmed that there were no more victims buried in the landslide. (Soure: Malaysiakini)

Now that the search had ended, will the government seriously end all present and future hillside projects that have 'landslide potential'...oops the PM said no more hillside developments. Really ah?

India's top Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan will star in a new movie exploring the issue of Islam in the post 9/11 world and the misperception that all Muslims are terrorists. "My Name is Khan" tells the story of six people with Muslim surnames who suffer suspicion and prejudice years after the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States. "The movie is about a Muslim person's strife (in telling) people that 'my name is Khan but I am not a terrorist'," Khan told reporters after being conferred the governors' award in Malacca in recognition of his 2001 film "One 2 Ka 4", which was set there and boosted its profile as a tourist destination..."Islam does not in any which way tell you to be violent," he said. Indeed. No religion teaches or tells its followers to be violent. Only followers who have deviated from the truth and follow their own willful way - their evil desire in the name of religion. Maybe Datuk Shah Rukh Khan can also change the perception that Malaysia is a hub for Islamic terrorists.

History repeats itself. Another landslide at Hulu Kelang. The online media is now abuzz with the news of the latest landslide tragedy at Bukit Antarabangsa.

Needless to say, Malaysiakini has the breaking news updated 9.35am A massive landslide at 4 this morning buried eight bungalows in Bukit Antarabangsa, Hulu Klang. Four bodies have been found and eight to 10 people are still feared buried...The landslide has cut off the access road to the residential area, trapping hundreds of people at Bukit Antarabangsa in Hulu Klang. Azmin Ali, the state rep for Bukit Antarabangsa told Malaysiakini that rescuers are now fighting against time to reach those trapped under the mud and rubble...The politician said he rushed over to the scene at 4.30am soon after he received words of the landslide.

On December 11 1993, 48 people were killed when the Highland Towers Condominium in Hulu Klang collapsed. Let us pray for the rescue workers' safety as they seek to find more survivors. 8-|

Instead of losing sleep over the Barisan Nasional-led federal government’s alleged discrimination, the five Pakatan Rakyat-led states have decided to work together to survive the impending global economic crisis. Their main concern is mitigating an expected influx of over half a million jobless Malaysians in the local employment market due to massive retrenchment, both in and outside the country.
