Najib Abdul Razak said today the newly-formed BN government in Perak intends to survive, albeit with a slim majority. The deputy prime minister told Bernama that if the state assembly members were loyal, the government would survive even with a mere majority of one seat.

To a question, he said the takeover of the Perak state government by the BN was done correctly. "Please ask Pakatan why they started this. They were talking about forming the government on Sept 16. This is the principle that they mentioned, that they accepted and tried to put into practice. "They wanted to topple the federal government by stealing 31 BN members of parliament. It was not the BN. Ask them," said Najib who is also the Perak BN chair.
No doubt Anwar talked about the takeover but it NEVER happened. BN had to stoop so low to follow the principle set by Pakatan. By doing so, BN had set the PRECEDENCE that stealing is acceptable. Take a good look at yourself in the mirror and say, 'I AM MERELY APING ANWAR.'

My dear had to take one-day leave just to send her lappie to the ICU on 23 January. Click here for the map to HP Service Center KL.

The system board and adapter were found to be faulty. Both were replaced. The lappie was ready for collection on 30 January.

I would like to think that the service given by HP was quite good but there's room for improvement.

For the convenience of customers, HP should consider the following two suggestions for improvement:
1. The service centre should be opened on Saturday. By doing so, customers who work from Monday to Friday do not need to take leave from work.
2. Provide on-site service.

Malaysiakini: NIZAR IS STILL THE MB OF PERAK

I just happened to ponder if Nizar was still the MB. Suddenly, I saw the latest news that came into 'LATEST 10 NEWS' of Malaysiakini.

So who is the Perak mentri besar? Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin? Dr Zambry Abd Kadir?

According to Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, it is Mohd Nizar.
“Nizar Jamaluddin is menteri besar until he resigns of his own accord, or is removed by a vote of no-confidence in a formal sitting of the assembly,” the former Umno veep said in a statement.“Only the answer of the assembly courts counts. The constitution makes no provision for his removal by any other means, including by petitions or instructions from any other authority,” Razaleigh pointed out...Razaleigh also stressed that to remove and install a government in any other way is considered a violation of the constitution, erode the rule of law and risk forming an illegal government.

Turning the Wheel of Fortune into the Will of Fortune

Chinese New Year hasn't ended. So, I would like to reproduce here a sermon that my pastor preached. I enjoyed sharing it with the cell last night.

Introduction
Chinese philosophy of life can be represented by 3 Chinese characters:
1.) Fu - Blessing, Good Fortune, Good Luck

2.) Lu - Prosperity

3.) Shou - Longevity


But the Christian view of life is based on the word of God

1. Our Future is determined by the Will of God
- Fu
- Chinese have a strong belief in luck, astrology and feng shui
- They believe that if they offend certain spirits or break certain taboos then bad luck will befall them
- Christian perspective - Our future is determined by the will of God
- God's plan for us is for good and not for evil (Jeremiah 29:11)
- Occult practices are evil in God's eyes (Deuteronomy 18:9-12)

2. Prosperity follow after God's people
- Lu
- Prosperity is not determined by the spirits, stars and cultural taboos
- Prosperity is a product of our relationship with God
- When we are in relationship with the Father, the word of God changes our thinking, mindsets making us more capable and wise to achieve success and wealth
- Joshua 1:8
- For Christians, we don't run after prosperity. Rather, prosperity follows after us

3. Turning the wish of long life into a promise
- Shou
- The Chinese worship ancestors so that they have long life
- Exodus 20:12 - a commandment with a promise - "Honor your father and your mother and you will live long"
- We are living in the days where people want to live a long life and pay a lot for it
- But the answer is not in therapies and surgery but in honoring your father and mother
- Honor them while they are still alive and not when they are dead (Chinese ancestor worship)
- We should live a lifestyle of honoring our parents throughout their lives

Malaysiakini: SULTAN USED HIS HEAD BUT NOT HIS HEART?

In what appears to be a unique situation, Perak by the end of today would have two menteris besar - Pakatan Rakyat’s Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin and Barisan Nasional’s Zambry Abd Kadir.

On one side, we have Mohd Nizar who is refusing to resign as requested by Sultan Azlan Shah. And on the other, we have Zambry whom the sultan approved as BN seemed to have the majority of seats in the state assembly.

We have a MB who represents the majority in the state assembly as elected by the people in the last general election. At the same time, we will have a state leader who is one by default as a result of defections.

Mohd Nizar’s reasons to stick to his ground are quite valid. He is right in disputing the sultan’s request for him to step down as the new majority held by BN could seep away if the court rules in favour of the state speaker in declaring the three state seats vacant.

Never mind the court ruling – it may take some time to materialise. The least the sultan could have suggested was for a vote of confidence taken at the assembly before he asked Mohd Nizar to resign and hand over power to BN.

However, the sultan was quite adamant on what he wanted – for Mohd Nizar to step down immediately, and a few hours later, he backed the appointment of Zambry as the new menteri besar.

Sultan Azlan Shah has overruled Mohd Nizar’s repeated request for the dissolution of the state assembly, which would pave the way for fresh state elections.

And by so doing, the sultan who was a former lord president and an eminent reader of the law, had caused a constitutional crisis in Perak.

In defence of the sultan

DAP leader Lim Kit Siang put it rightly when he said that Mohd Nizar was still the legitimate menteri besar until he has been voted out by a "no confidence" motion in the state assembly.

“Until such time, there is no vacancy in the post of Perak menteri besar,” he said in his statement today.

In the defence of the sultan, it can be said that he read the state constitution rightly, and literally, in asking for the resignation of Mohd Nizar.

The sultan, rightly or wrongly, must have been convinced of what state Umno/BN leader Najib Abdul Razak told him at a meeting yesterday morning – that BN enjoyed the majority support in the state assembly.

The sultan also individually questioned the four defectors – of which three are independents and one who had returned to Umno – of their support for the BN government.

He also got an undertaking from them that they will continue to support the new BN government.

And with that, the sultan decided that Mohd Nizar does not have the majority support of the assembly which the BN enjoyed now, and that there was no need to dissolve the assembly as he can ask the Pakatan government to step down and hand power over to the BN.

These are all fair and right as far as the sultan’s reading of the state constitution, especially the important Article 16(6) of the constitution.

And many legal experts will also agree with the sultan’s reading of the constitution, never mind the fact that the status of the three independents are still under dispute.

However, it must be said that while the sultan had used his legal mind to the matter, he had failed in thinking as the ruler of his subjects.

There are at least three factors that the sultan seemed to have missed in making his decision to hand over power to BN.


Sorry lah. I'm only a lay man not a legal expert. So, based on Article (16), the IF is really questionable as the status of the three independents are still under dispute.
