ISA on the way for Nizar? Zambry the most insecure man in the nation

The Perak BN government today issued a stern warning against Pakatan Rakyat's attempt to convene an emergency assembly sitting tomorrow."If anyone is involved in tomorrow's assembly, the state government would not compromise with anyone or any group which threatens national security, particularly in Perak," said Menteri Besar Zambry Abd Kadir from a prepared statement. Zambry said this during a press conference in his office this evening as riot police took up positions at the entrance of the state secretariat building.

The state assembly is located in the second floor of the state secretariat.

The state is currently set for a showdown tomorrow as Pakatan state representatives are expected to turn up for the sitting as planned, although the state secretariat building would be closed off.

Is Zambry issuing a threat? What national security? I feel very secure. So, do I smell 'ISA' on the way? If Zambry's boss orders an ISA detention, then be sure it will spell death for BN. ;)

Nizar power! Speaker power! Rakyat power! Sultan power!

Lawyers representing the Perak Barisan Nasional has served a legal summons on state assembly speaker V Sivakumar this morning, it was learnt today. The summons indicated an intention by the BN Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir to seek an injunction to stop the emergency sitting of the state assembly tomorrow. The hearing is expected to take place at the Ipoh High Court this afternoon. At the same time, BN exco member Mohd Zahir Abdul Khalid has served notice to refer Sivakumar to the state assembly's rights and privileges committee. The notice was served to Sivakumar's political secretary at 11am. Sivakumar is accused of abusing his power and committing contempt in showing disloyalty to the Sultan of Perak.

When contacted for comment, Sivakumar said he had not seen any summons supposedly served on him.

"Yes I've heard about it through SMSes and all but I don't know for sure," he said.

"Let them do it. Let's wait and see," he added.

Disloyalty to the Sultan, again?! Then, no need to take court action lor. Plead with the Sultan to intervene. Pity the Sultan. He's being used by Umno-led BN to achieve its political goal even though the Sultan is apolitical. History has judged Umno as the ONE that stripped the monarchy of its immunity. The rakyat will always remember the history.

The Perak assembly secretary Abdullah Antong Sabri today said that the call by the state speaker for an emergency sitting next Tuesday was illegal. This was because the emergency sitting has not received the consent from Sultan of Perak in accordance with the standing orders of the assembly and the state constitution, he said in a statement. However in an almost immediate reaction, speaker V Sivakumar's lawyer Chan Kok Keong insisted that the emergency sitting - called to table two motions on the takeover of the state government - was lawful...
Sivakumar also stressed today that the emergency sitting this Tuesday was valid and will go ahead as planned. He said that he and legal experts had studied the Perak constitution and the assembly's standing orders in detail and determined that it is within his powers to call for the emergency sitting...
Meanwhile, Perak DAP state secretary Nga Kor Ming said that a continued sitting of the house from the previous sittings does not require the Sultan's consent. "The consent was granted before and it is still in force," said Nga, a practicing lawyer and Pantai Remis assemblyperson. Even if BN decides to boycott the sitting, Nga said Pakatan state representatives would still fulfil the quorum needed to proceed. "And then once the motion of confidence for Mohd Nizar is passed, it means Zambry has lost confidence of the majority in the house and must therefore resign," he said. He also warned that anyone who obstructs the assembly proceedings on Tuesday would be deemed to have acted in contempt of the house....
Constitutional expert Prof Aziz A Bari also threw his weight behind the decision made by Sivakumar. "I do not think there is a need for the sultan's consent here. And do not forget the speaker has written (to request) for it but the palace failed to respond," he told Malaysiakini.
O what a mess that the Sultan's decision has brought about but it is certainly not his doing. The Sultan is apolitical, remember? ;=)...who masterminded the mess, the rakyat knows...

PAS union with Umno like union of a holy man with a prostitute

The influential Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has echoed PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s calls for a unity government to tackle the ailing economy and ensure political stability.

Razaleigh is the first leader to come out in support of Abdul Hadi’s statement, which had again renewed speculations that PAS was again warming up to Umno after clandestine talks between the two parties broke down last year.

“There is a real danger of our falling into a long-term loop of decline, with job losses, crime, social conflict, institutional breakdown and political instability feeding upon each other.

“Our problems are fundamental, and must be faced immediately. But BN cannot do this alone,” said Razaleigh in his latest blog posting today, in response to Abdul Hadi’s interview with The Malaysian Insider yesterday.

In his blog, Razaleigh argued his case for a unity-government chiefly, because he believes that Barisan Nasional is imploding and seeking to hang on to power through undemocratic means.

Malay Mail website editor U-En Ng has resigned over the newspaper's coverage of the controversy surrounding the revealing photos of Selangor executive councillor Elizabeth Wong.

Ng made public his decision to resign during a forum titled ‘Privacy: Does it exist in Malaysia? Is it time to legislate?’ organised by the Bar Council last night.

According to Sin Chew Daily today, Ng who was a speaker at the forum, said the reports on Wong’s private photos failed to establish the truth and instead created more problems.

Matter of principle

He stressed that the media must practice self-regulation and avoid reporting news that invades personal privacy.

Thus, Ng said that his decision to resign was a matter of principle.

However, Ng agreed that an invasion of privacy in the name of public interest may sometimes be warranted, such as in the case of a government official being bribed in their own home.

Malay Mail was among two newspapers which broke the news that Wong’s revealing photos were making rounds in public on Feb 16.

This kind of 'unity' contest merely attracts participation. Period. It won't promote real unity in a real way. What Malaysia needs is more than a contest. She needs affirmative action for the poor regardless of race, equal economic opportunities, freedom of religion and speech and so much more!

I am not a language expert but google for 'allah shang ti'and you will find a host of information on it. I found the first result to be informative. It is written by Egalitaria, a Malaysian blogger. Its title is Allah, Tuhan, God, Shang Ti, Dio!

Google for 'history origin of the word allah' and you will find another some blog posts by Malaysian bloggers too. The second result attracted my attention - The origins of the the word Allah by (by Farish Noor) Yes, google for 'farish noor religious affair malaysia' and you will many interesting articles written by him.
