Malaysiakini: LATEST BALANCE OF POWER IN PERAK. PR RULEZ!

The Perak state assembly's special privileges committee today suspended the state's newly-minted menteri besar Zambry Abdul Kadir and all his six executive councillors. The decision was announced by Perak state assembly speaker V Sivakumar after the committee's inquiry proceeding in Ipoh this afternoon. Zambry was slapped with an 18-month suspension while the excos have been suspended for 12 months. The latest development plunges Perak into another crisis following BN's seizure of the state government two weeks ago. Sivakumar is still the Perak speaker as the BN government has yet to convene the state assembly to replace him with one of their own. In a statement to the media, Sivakumar said the decision was reached because the seven had failed to provide an explanation for their contempt of the state assembly by declaring themselves menteri besar and excos. "I have decided to bar Datuk Zambry with immediate effect from attending any assembly session for the next 18 months and the six exco members have also been barred for 12 months," read the four-paragraph statement. Malaysiakini: WHAT CAT DOES NOT FEAST ON FISH?

"She is a single person. How can she allow a man into her room when they are not married? What's the status of the relationship," said former Selangor MB Dr Mohd Khir Toyo.

My blood boiled when I read this in Malaysiakini's Nude photos: Wong offers to quit

Chua Soi Lek wasn't spared from the wonder of technology - a vid cam neatly and secretly lodged in the hotel room. Well, someone could have lodged a camera in Elizabeth's bedroom but of course, her ex-boyfriend is now the main suspect. So, don't condemn this ex-boyfriend, whoever he is, I think his name will be known soon...hehe...remember, Elizabeth is the victim here.

Moreover, what Khir said doesn't hold water. She was sleeping. If a pervert guy wants to feast on a naked body, he'd do anything. That's why there are voyeurs. There's a Chinese saying, 'What cat doesn't feast on fish?' hehehe...don't try to put on a holy front lah...Every man is the same....hehehe

Malaysiakini: SO WITH ELIZABETH GONE, WHO IS NEXT?

The title of my post is taken from a SMS I received from a friend today at 5:24 pm:
So with Elizabeth gone, i wonder who's the next victim!

I wonder too...I think all MPs and Aduns of PR had better be on their toes. There seems to be a 'mastermind' behind all the latest 'fallout' of elected reps. Read RPK's 'Are Kedah and Selangor next?' if you haven't already read.

rom Malaysiakini - Nude photos: Wong offers to quit
Selangor executive councillor Elizabeth Wong today offered to quit her state cabinet post and state assembly seat following her nude photographs controversy. Wong, who first appeared calm, could not hold back her tears when announcing her decision at a packed press conference at the PKR headquarters in Tropicana, Damansara. "I have received overwhelming support from my family, my constituents, colleagues in Pakatan Rakyat, friends and the public. "However, in the interests of the party, I have decided to offer my resignation as exco and state rep," she said.

Malaysiakini: SAD SYED SPEAKING

Both government and opposition politicians have condemned the actions of those who were involved in leaking nude pictures of Bukit Lanjan assemblyperson Elizabeth Wong. Selangor Mentri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, asked if Wong would be asked for her resignation, said the state government would look into all aspects of the incident before making a decision on the matter.
What other parliamentarians said:

Teresa Kok, Seputeh MP and Kinrara assemblyperson
I’ve started to worry about being in my own home... I am afraid there could be a camera in my bathroom. I truly feel sad and sorry for (Wong) after she told me about it yesterday. I had a bad dream last night and I can understand how this kind of thing can haunt a woman. I urge the police to take this matter seriously and I hope the culprit can charged. Why should she resign? Our job is to serve to people. It is not similar to the sex scandal involving (former Health Minister Dr) Chua Soi Lek because he is a married man and he was engaged in something that was morally wrong.
Noraini Ahmad, Deputy Human Resources Minister
Regardless of (who it is), we have to have respect their privacy and it has to be protected. We should also educate society to refrain from invading people's privacy.
R Sivarasa, Subang MP
It is a gross invasion of her privacy. The photos had fallen into the hands of unscrupulous people and they have passed it around. If she has to resign because of this, everything you do in private will become public.
Syed Hamid Albar, Home Minister
PKR has a lot of problematic people and they should settle their problems first before deciding to become the people's representatives in Parliament or even in the state assembly. Well, if she is the victim... I do not know... she is entitled to make a police report and the police will investigate. You may take naked photos in your private home, but you have to make sure the the public will not get it. In this case it is too early to say who is responsible.
Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister in Prime Minister's Department
I sympathise with the executive councillor, this thing should have not happened as she the people's representative and she had been performing her duties. Therefore, to foil what she has done for the community in this manner is not good. But I hope her spirits (remain strong) and she will not bother about what has happened.
Chew Mei Fun, Wanita MCA chief
...We would like to advise all women to be cautious. We also urged the government to strictly enforce the implementation of the Act, which provides for punitive measures so that it becomes a real deterrent against such detestable behaviour...

Syed said, '

No one knows when a thief will strike. Nothing is 100% 'thief-proof' . Also, stealing simply means taking something with one's permission. So, putting the onus on the victim? Sad.

Malaysiakini: KHIR TOYO FATED TO BE AN OPPOSITION LEADER

Khir Toyo, the MB turned opposition leader
Quick to judge, quick to condemn
If only he knew better
To the political wilderness he shall be damned

Proverbs 21:19
It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
Nathaniel Tan of jelas.info said, 'I don’t really blog about people’s personal lives. But Khir’s (suspiciously instant) call for Eli to resign cannot be left unanswered.' I feel the same. Suspiciously instant. If he or any BN male chauvinistic leaders continue to call for her resignation, be certain that he or they will incur THE WOMEN'S WRATH. Even Chew Mei Fun, Wanita MCA Chief, condemned the act saying, 'Wanita MCA empathises with Wong... We are outraged by such shameful acts of using women as sexual objects - it is an outright invasion of the privacy of women as well as exploitation of women for political use.' BN will soon self-destruct at the rate it's going. ;)

Malaysiakini: CULPRIT SHOULD BE HUDUD-ED

Selangor executive councillor Elizabeth Wong, whose nude photographs are being circulated in public, has made a report urging the police to investigate the matter. According to the Bukit Lanjan assemblyperson, she lodged the report at the Damansara police station in Petaling Jaya at about 11pm yesterday. It is believed that the photographs were taken - most likely by a former boyfriend - while she was sleeping and without her consent. It appears that a camera phone was used. Malaysiakini was shown a couple of the photos said to be among those in circulation. One shows Wong asleep naked in bed. The 37-year-old Pakatan Rakyat politician - also the tourism, consumer affairs and environment exco in Selangor - has been severely traumatised by the release of the photos.
She told Malaysiakini that it was a gross invasion of her privacy. "I'm a little speechless...at a loss for words," she said, adding that she would leave to the police to find the culprit who circulated the photos.
I think the culprit, if caught, should be stripped and whipped naked in public but then again, what a wishful thinking...hmmm, I wonder what's the hudud law on this? Like chopping hand for stealing...

Malaysiakini: NO STREET PROTEST AGAINST EDU MINISTRY

Instead of a street protest, the Federation of Malay Writers Association (Gapena) has opted to lodge a police report against the government for using English to teach Mathematics and Science in schools. The so-called 152 street protest - or Feb 15 rally - which was mooted last month, did not go ahead today. However, Gapena went to Brickfields police station to lodge a report with about 50 supporters in tow to show their support for the cause. Gapena president Ismail Hussein, speaking to journalists after filing the report, lambasted the Education Ministry for violating “Section 17 (1) Act 550 of Education Act 1996 and Section 152 (1) and 152 (6) of the Federal Constitution”. Section 17 (1) of the Education Act states that Malay language, being the national language, should be the language of instruction for all education institutions except for vernacular schools. Article 152 (1) of the constitution states that Malay language is a national language and no one has the authority to stop the use of Bahasa Malaysia in schools.
Good lah...At least, no protest. If they want to protest, they have the right too...but then again, look at the photo. Most of them senior citizens. Maybe no energy to protest. heheheheh
