The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) has to come out and state
clearly the purpose of its Aug 5 meeting with the Attorney-General's
Chambers and several Islamic NGOs, at which the raid on the Damansara
Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) was discussed.
Shah Alam MP Khalid
Samad, who has been locked in a battle with Mais on the Aug 3 raid on
DUMC by the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais), is demanding that this is what Mais has to do to clear air on the matter, that is to give a clear answer on whether the meeting was an
official programme, the Selangor PAS deputy commissioner said in a
statement today.
Khalid sees the meeting a part of a conspiracy by Mais, Jais, the Attorney-General's Chambers and several Islamic NGOs to oust Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim but Mais chairperson Mohamad Abzib Mohd Isa, in a statement issued last week, denied the allegation and said the meeting was to brief the NGOs on the Jais raid on DUMC.
