Decided to lunch at Wendy's Jaya 1 instead of our usual Sunday eat out. Why? One of the reasons was for the air-conditioning.
We arrived at Wendy's close to 12 noon. It was still quite empty inside with only three or four tables occupied and felt a bit warm.
Once we had decided where to seat and eat, we went to the counter to order. After ordering, my wife took out her company access card and showed it to the cashier for discount. The cashier said no discount because our order had already been entered in the system. We accepted her explanation, paid the bill and went to our table with the drinks. While waiting for our food, we began to feel the place getting warmer. We guessed that the air-conditioning was not turned on.
After a while, our friend came to join us. My wife accompanied her to the counter and let her use her company access card. This time, the same cashier said no discount because it was a combo set! Again, we accepted her explanation even though we were not satisfied with her answer. Reason being discounts were given in the past whether combo or not. While our friend waited for her food, my wife and I started to eat ours. Very soon, we felt the place getting much warmer.
For whatever reason the air-conditioning was not turned on. The three of us agreed that it should be turned on even if there was only one customer eating in. Anyhow, since we were nice customers, we didn't want to make a big fuss. So, just 'tahan' only.
The air-conditioning only started to kick in when we almost finished eating. Great!
After that, my wife suggested to order baked potatoes with broccoli and cheese for our kid to try. I thought why not and wanted to push my luck for discount. I went to the same counter manned by the same cashier, gave her my order and handed to her my wife's company access card. She said, 'Berjaya'. I said yes. Then, she called her manager who was behind her. The manager asked, 'Berjaya?' The cashier nodded. Unhappily she walked to the counter and swiped her card at the machine to give permission for the discount.
Well, I was happy I got my 10% discount and paid RM6.60 though the manager's lazy attitude put me off. Must have been very troublesome for her to walk that few steps just to swipe her card and punch in the numbers.
