Speculations are rife that Kuala Krai PAS division treasurer Mohd Fauzi Abdullah is PAS' most likely candidate for the Manek Urai by-election.

Fauzi, in his 40s, is a turban-clad wealthy fishmonger and businessman. He was born and bred in Kuala Krai, the nearest town in the largely rural Malay-majority Manek Urai constituency.
