Firstly, I am sure what these NGOs are doing are against the spirit of 1Malaysia, no? ;)

Secondly, why did these NGOs not protest when Koh Tsu Koon was in power? I think the answer lies in the fact that RPK said, "Another thing that is even more upsetting for Umno, even ex-Umno people now in PKR, is that, during the days of the Gerakan state government, it was Umno that called the shots while the Gerakan Chief Minister was merely an Umno running dog and in office merely to serve Umno’s interest." (Read 'Guan Eng dictator? Good for Guan Eng'). Keke yes, the running dog called KTK served Umno's interest...of course, Umno's interest is only Umno's interest.

Lim: Attacks against me are nothing compared to what Anwar and his family are being put through now

The attempts by certain parties to bring down the Penang state government will not bear fruit, says Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Commenting on the scathing remarks made against his leadership by two Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) MPs namely Bayan Baru's Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohd Hashim and Nibong Tebal's Tan Tee Beng, Lim said the attempts to discredit him were also desperate attempts by Barisan Nasional (BN) to divert attention from the ongoing trial of PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"The Penang state government will not fall and they can try all they want as they are attempting to do with all Pakatan Rakyat (PR) states.

"Everything is well and fine between the Pakatan Rakyat leaders in Penang from PKR, DAP and PAS. They are with the state government all the way, in every effort that is being undertaken. It is only one or two who are 'unwell'.

"Their attempts to destabilise the state government won't material as the people know what is happening. These elements in PKR are working with some parties to divert everyone's attention from the trial.

"As PKR leaders, they should be focusing on the trial instead of hitting the PKR worse than they have ever hit out at the BN.

"It is clear that while their bodies are with the PKR, their hearts and souls are already elsewhere and not with the party," Lim said at a press conference after meeting staff of the Penang Development Corporation and its subsidiaries.

He said what was being levelled at him was nothing compared to what Anwar and his family were being put through now, once again, after 10 years, on new sodomy charges.

Saying that the allegations by Zahrain and Tan did not deserve comment, Lim said the state government would not be distracted from its main task of governing the state based on its competency, accountability and transparency (CAT) principles.

He said the attempts to discredit him were the creation of media organisations whom he accused of resorting to printing lies to bring the state government down.

He cited a frontpage media report recently which quoted PKR Secretary-General Saifuddin Nasution saying that PKR would act against him (Lim) which Saifuddin has since denied in a media statement and reiterated PKR's support for Lim and the DAP.

"Is this the standard of responsible reporting? I am beyond disgust and filled with a sense of numbness that some newspapers would resort to such acts.

"Where is your professionalism and integrity as journalists? Journalists are supposed to report facts and let the facts tell the story instead of creating facts," Lim said.

He said certain media also chose to create unrest among the people in Penang by highlighting that only Malays were being targetted during the Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) enforcement action, while the facts via statistics showed otherwise.

"In fact, the statistics show that Malays who faced enforcement action under this state government is fewer than during BN's rule," Lim added.

DUBAI, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian-made disposable circumcision device piqued the interest of visitors at the recently-concluded Arab Health 2010 exhibition here.

Judging from the favourable response, Machu Picchu Medicare Sdn Bhd Marketing Manager Arifabillah Idris had good reason to be excited about the prospects of marketing the product in the Middle East region.

He described his company's participation in the show under the umbrella of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation as an eye opener.

"This is the first time that we've come to this part of the world. The device is being marketed so far in Indonesia, Australia and Sweden," he told Bernama.

Arifabillah said he received inquiries from several parties, many keen on becoming distributors of the product in the region.

"We got inquiries from places like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Yemen and Pakistan, among others. There's also a request for us to present the product at an event in Saudi Arabia," he said.

"I'm very excited about this market. I brought with me quite a lot of samples but I've none left," he said of the product first introduced in 2005.

He explained that among the advantages of the item was that it would take lesser time for doctors to perform circumcision on patients but faster time to heal compared to conventional methods.

"The beauty of the product is that patients could straight away put on their trousers, for example, after undergoing the procedure if they so wish.

"There's less bleeding and minimal do's and don'ts. But some people may opt to be more conventional in dealing with the recuperation process," he said.

Available in several sizes, the device is backed by research and development conducted by Universiti Malaya.

Arifabillah said his Kuala Lumpur-based company shipped around 10,000 disposable circumcision devices per month.

Defence yet to get witness list, prosecution by ambush!

SODOMY II Although Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial entered its second day today, the defence team has yet to obtain the witness list from the prosecution.

One of Anwar's lawyers, Sankara Nair said they would file an application on Monday at the High Court, should they fail to get the witness list tomorrow given that normally, in a criminal trial the witness list was given latest by the first day of the trial.

Sankara said now that the trial had commenced for two days, the defence had yet to receive the witness list.

He told reporters outside the Jalan Duta court complex that with the list being held by the prosecution, it would be like a trial or prosecution by ambush.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 4, 2010): The High Court heard today that Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan told a Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) doctor frankly that he was there for an examination as he had been sodomised by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Saiful, 25, a former personal aide to Anwar, who was testifying on the second day at Anwar's trial, said he had gone to two hospitals earlier before HKL where he registered himself at about 3pm at the Outpatient Ward, for a medical examination.

He said he saw a female Indian doctor but told her that he was shy as she is a woman. The doctor then suggested that he see a male doctor, whose room was next to her.

Saiful said he then met with the male doctor, whose name was Dr Daniel.

"When I met Dr Daniel, I was tired and I told him frankly that I came to HKL for an examination as I had been sodomised by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim," said Saiful.

"He was a bit shocked," said Saiful, adding that the doctor then wrote a note for him to go to the Emergency Ward at One Stop Crisis Centre (OCSS).

He then went to OCSS where he was visited by doctors, including one who took his blood pressure.

Saiful said when he told a doctor he wants a specific examination as he had been sodomised.

When advised by the doctor to lodge a police report because without the police report, an examination could not be conducted on him, Saiful said he told the doctor he wanted to lodge a report.

Asked by Solicitor-General II Datuk Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden how he got a form to lodge a police report, Saiful said two police personnel, one female and male came to him with a form.

Q: You did not call the police?

A: No

He said four doctors, including three men and a pregnant female doctor and a few nurses then examined him at about 9pm in the presence of ASP Jude Pereira.

Earlier, Saiful told the court that on June 28, 2008, he went to Tawakkal Kuala Lumpur Hospital but was told that it was a half-day. Accompanied by his uncle, Tuah Mohamad Ali, he then went to Hospital Pusrawi where he saw Dr Mohamad Osman Abdul Hamid and complained to him that he was having stomach ache and pain at the rectum.

He said while being examined by the doctor who had told him to take off his pants and lie on the bed, he told the doctor that he had been sodomised.

Saiful said the doctor immediately stopped examining him and told him to wear his pants, after which the doctor gave him advice.

The doctor said the hospital does not have the facilities to conduct a forensic examination and that a report from private hospital would not be accepted as evidence in court.

Saiful said the doctor also told him to go to a government hospital and suggested HKL.

At the court yesterday, Saiful also identified Dr. Mohamad Osman. The court was also shown CCTV recordings of Saiful getting into and out of a lift, to the fifth floor of Desa Damansara Condominium.

Saiful, who was seen holding a bag in the recordings, was asked to confirmed that it was him. He also identified several photos of himself. -- theSun

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- Former Petronas chairman Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said Wednesday his presence at the Stadium Sultan Mohamad IV recently was on the invitation of 52 non-governmental organisations from Kelantan and Terengganu.

"I did not attend the gathering because I want to support PAS. Not at all. I'm an Umno member.

"I went there because I am a former Petronas chairman and I am from Kelantan.

"If the people there wanted me to explain about the Petroleum Development Act 1974, then why shouldn't I go there and explain the matter?" he told Bernama.

He said the Petroleum Development Act stipulates that when an oil well was found off the shores of any state, then the state concerned was entitled to be paid five per cent royalty from the oil revenue.

"It's not that I'm forcing Petronas or the federal government to pay the royalty to the (Kelantan) state government but rather, Petronas itself should adhere to this agreement," he said.

The Gua Musang MP was reported to have said in his ceramah at the stadium that Kelantan was entitled to the oil royalty payment.

Clearly, Ku Li's stand on principle is unacceptable to those whose has NO principle.

Hisham to announce new pay scheme for cops

SEPANG (Feb 2, 2010): The new pay scheme for policemen from the rank of sergeants and above, which includes a rise in salary and allowances, will be announced by Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein tomorrow.

He said the effort is to enhance the capability of the police force by improving their living standard and welfare.

"I will announce the details on the perks and welfare of police tomorrow," he told a press conference at KL International Airport here today while refusing to disclose further.

It was reported yesterday the new pay and incentives come three years after they were recommended by the Royal Commission on the Enhancement of the Management and Operations of the Police.

The biggest gainers reportedly will be new inspectors who will get a starting salary of RM2,060 compared to RM1,492 previously.

Diploma and STPM holders will also be allowed to join the force directly as sergeants and they will start with a basic salary of RM1,500. A sergeant’s basic salary previously is RM890.

It was said that new inspectors would have a take home pay of more than RM3,000 inclusive of a RM200 special incentive, RM100 to RM200 cost of living allowance and a RM420 housing allowance.

The pay was reported to be backdated to Jan 1, 2009. -- theSun
