Just nice.
Actually, there were two rainbows in the sky.
Due to my inferior 5MP camera phone, HTC Desire  S, I couldn't capture a nicer shot.

Najib lies again? No need 2/3 to empower MACC la

February 28, 2012

Lim believed both BN and PR MPs could work together on this issue in the interest of the nation. — File pic
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 — The ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) does not need to win two-thirds control of Parliament to improve the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) as such plans would not necessarily be opposed by Pakatan Rakyat (PR), say its lawmakers.
Opposition lawmakers told The Malaysian Insider that any steps to improve the efficiency and accountability of the anti-graft body should be welcomed, and that they will be open to debating the matter in Parliament at its next sitting.
Bar Council president Lim Chee Wee said there should be no reason why MPs “across the floor” would not vote in favour of amendments to the Federal Constitution if it was done in the interest of the nation.
They were responding to Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who pledged yesterday to give more freedom to the MACC in the appointment of its officers if BN wins two-thirds control of Parliament in the next general election.

Liew said there was no question of needing a two-thirds majority.
DAP international secretary Liew Chin Tong rubbished the prime minister’s remarks, saying that there should be a proper level of consultation with opposition lawmakers on the matter.
“This is nonsense. In principle we agree on empowering the MACC for the betterment of the public. There is no question on needing a two-thirds majority.
“In principle we agree, and think that the MACC should be placed under the jurisdiction of Parliament, and not the Prime Minister’s Office,” he told The Malaysian Insider.
The Bukit Bendera MP said that in any mature democracy where laws are made, proper consultation on all levels needs to take place.
He said Najib was presumptuous to think PR lawmakers would not agree to some of the recommendations of the advisory panel.
“The opposition is happy to be consulted,” he added.
PAS central committee member Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa stressed that past amendments to the purpose and function of the MACC had already “empowered” the commission, and that the real problem was ensuring the anti-graft body was free from “political interference.”
“You don’t need two thirds. Issue is not about strengthening, but more of allowing autonomy to MACC to carry out its duties,” he told The Malaysian Insider.
“Pakatan Rakyat has agreed to reform measures for the MACC, based on proposals by the advisory panel,” the PAS leader added.
PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar told The Malaysian Insider that Najib’s remarks were an admission that the MACC did not have enough clout to tackle corruption in the country.

Mujahid said the issue was more of giving the MACC the autonomy to carry out its duties.
“The people should reject this kind political motivation from a leader. History has shown that when BN rules with a bigger majority, they are not afraid to abuse their powers,” she said.
The Bar Council’s Lim pointed out that both BN and PR MPs had demonstrated “some amount of maturity” with regards to the bipartisan Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on electoral reforms.
“Thus there is no reason why this cannot equally be the case with necessary and advantageous amendments to the Federal Constitution,” he said.
The lawyer however questioned Najib’s mention of a proposal to elevate the status of the MACC chief commissioner to a standing equal to the Attorney-General or Auditor-General, stating that both had different limits to their jurisdiction.
“A question which arises from the PM’s statement is the meaning of equal standing of the chief commissioner of MACC to the Honourable Attorney-General and Auditor-General.
“The former has unfettered discretion to prosecute, making him probably the most powerful man in Malaysia. Whilst the latter’s powers, duties are prescribed the Audit Act 1957,” said the Bar Council president.

Obviously, Najib is a very desperate man - promising everything to everyone! More promises to come!

Budaya samseng Umno: Polis pun menjadi mangsa

Read the Bahasa version of 'Nurul: Dad wouldn't be the only one with a black eye' here.

According to Nurul Izzah, before the fiasco, around 10 uniformed and plainclothes police were present as organisers had informed police of the event. The ceramah was situated within the Paya Besar parliamentary constituency helmed by Umno’s Abdul Manan Ismail. and police had attempted to calm the hecklers, but to no avail.

However she commended the police effort, pointing out that even they had been abused by the group and said, “When the police were negotiating with us the group shouted: ‘Why you are talking to the opposition, why are you supporting the opposition’.”
NONE Nurul added that she believed the group was made up of Umno supporters, stating: “They could sing the entire Umno song from memory and they had brought Umno and BN flags.”

KUANTAN, Feb 26 — Putrajaya must axe Lynas Corp’s rare earth plant or face an even larger demonstration in the near future, organisers of today’s anti-Lynas rally have said.

Himpunan Hijau 2.0 chairman Wong Tack said the coalition would give authorities one day to respond to the demand, after which the green group will start planning its next mammoth protest.

“The whole nation has risen up. We cannot accept this kind of destruction to our country. It is very clear. How much louder do you want us to scream? When are you going to care about the people’s concerns?” he told reporters after the rally at Padang MPK 4 here.

“We want a decision to be made in 24 hours, or else our committee will start immediately on a bigger demonstration... to make sure either we bring down Lynas or bring down this government. You change your decision or we change you.”

Wong said while the Najib administration may be in power now, the radioactive waste that will be produced at the Lynas Corp plant in nearby Gebeng will persist for much, much longer.

“You may be in government today, but the waste is not going to be finished while you’re in government.

“While you may be out in a few months, we have to handle it for millions of years. How can we accept that?” he said.

The Himpunan Hijau 2.0 anti-Lynas rally today attracted thousands in what was the first major protest since the Public Assembly Bill was made into law last month.

The mammoth rally, which received a green light from city police, went off without a hitch.

The protests came hot on the heels of the Atomic Energy Licensing Board's (AELB) decision on January 20 to grant Lynas a temporary operating licence (TOL), which will let it embark on a trial run.

Critics have alleged that the Australian miner has not given enough assurances on how it will handle the low-level radioactive waste that will be produced at the refinery.

Dr M: My Friendster friend Vincent rich due to NEP!

Dr M: NEP bred non-Malay tycoons too

Syed Jaymal Zahiid | February 24, 2012
Responding to Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah's criticism, the former premier says the policy saw the rise of many non-Malay millionairs and billionaires, like his 'good friend' Vincent Tan.
KUALA LUMPUR: Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has defended his reign and implementation of the New Economic Policy (NEP) following criticism from Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
Mahathir said the race-based affirmative action framework had also bred non-Malay billionaires like Vincent Tan and Robert Kuok, the Berjaya Group founder and sugar tycoon who made their fortunes under the NEP.
Earlier today Razaleigh, affectionately known as Ku Li, said the NEP was not meant to create an incubated class of Malay capitalists but was designed to help the poor and all Malaysians.
He also criticised the policy as a source of racial disunity which resulted in the country’s inability to capitalise on its diversity and forced it backward.
However, Mahathir disagreed.
“You can count the number of non-Malays who became millionaires or even billionaires during my time. My good friend Vincent Tan became a billionaire. Robert Kuok became a multi-billionaire during my time when the NEP was being implemented – the monopoly of sugar and flour gave him the kickstart,” he told reporters here today.
Just last week, Razaleigh chided the ruling Barisan Nasional for its endorsement of decades of patronage politics that arose from the Mahathir era.
He said the mix of business and politics ruined policies created by the country’s founding fathers and resulted in widespread corruption, the decay of social institutions and had widened economic inequality.
The Kelantan prince also said the NEP had been misused and had become a strong factor behind Malaysia’s worsening race-relations. He pointed to the Malay-majority civil service as an example.
Policies under the influential former prime minister’s rule had been under attack recently following the leniency showed by Putrajaya towards former national carrier chief Tajudin Ramli, the poster boy of Mahathir’s now-criticised programme to groom Malay corporate leaders.
Tajudin led MAS into a downward spiral, incurring record losses until it forced the Mahathir administration to intervene in what was perceived to be a controversial bail out. It was also seen as a way to save the former MAS chief.
The MAS bail-out
Opposition leaders claimed this leniency was again extended when Putrajaya decided to settle the legal dispute with Tajudin over the debt he owed out of court.
The settlement sum was undisclosed, prompting intense public criticism and attacks from the opposition over the right of taxpayers to know how much of public funds had been recovered.
Mahathir defended the move to buy MAS’s shares in 2001 for RM8 each which was twice the market value at the time, saying it was needed to turn the company around.
He also said the bailout was not the worst although he conceded that taxpayers money were lost in the MAS debacle.
The influential Umno leader said under his successor’s rule, there were more costly bailouts.
“The government lost money when it cancelled the double tracking and electrification project between Johor Baru and Padang Besar. We lost about RM8 billion,” he argued.
The project was cancelled by Abdullah Ahmad Badawi months after he took over the country’s leadership in 2003.
His early departure from office in 2009 was said to have been caused by the cancellation which angered Mahathir and prompted him to launch scathing attacks against his successor. It would later influence Umno to oust him.

Fried fly in my Paandi rice. Will I go Paandi again?

On Wednesday, 21 December 2011, I had banana leaf rice for lunch at Paandi PJ and found a fried fly.
Told the lady boss about the fried fly in my rice before paying for my food.

She said sorry and gave me FREE rice but I still had to pay RM4 for the fried fish dish.

Well, I was disappointed that I did not get a FREE lunch but then again I thought, 'Oh well, I may not come here to eat again.'

Nevertheless, I will most probably patronize Paandi again just for the mork/moru curry that is only served every Wednesday.

'Mahathir benar wakil Israeli di WEF Kuala Lumpur'

February 23, 2012

Saya dengar bahawa Dr M membenarkan wakil Israeli menghadiri World Evangelical Fellowship General Assembly yang berlangsung di Kuala Lumpur pada suatu masa dahulu.

Benar tak?

Mahathir akan kata, 'Prove...'

Ooi you Ms Tow Truck epitomises MCA's arrogance

Ms Tow Truck epitomises MCA's arrogance
YOURSAY 'My hypothesis and greatest fear is that for all our criticism, MCA will never want to change. We are just wasting our time.'

Stop harassing Jessie Ooi, says MCA

Anonimous Z: Ms Tow Truck thought she was pleasing her MCA president and to attract his attention by ridiculing and belittling LGE (Lim Guan Eng) and DAP.

Unfortunately, she was too stupid to realise that not only she made a clown of herself and the party she represented but also she was actually ridiculing and undermining millions of audiences sitting in front of TV.

A timely public apology from her would have defused the situation. Instead, and as typical characteristic of the egoistic and arrogant MCA, she adamantly preferred to create more lies, trying to cover her earlier lies and false allegations.

Gobbie: Sigh. My hypothesis and greatest fear is that for all our criticism, MCA will never want to change. We are just wasting our time.

The reason is because MCA no longer wants to win over Chinese support (which is never there anyway). They realised long ago they are fighting a losing battle trying to win Chinese Malaysian support.

They have already surrendered their values and dignity and the only way to survive politically is to play up to Umnoputras. They are more than prepared to sell not only themselves but the Chinese community as well.

This way the Umnoputras will still see some ‘value' in MCA and will continue to influence the Malays to vote for them - their only mode of survival.

A part of me is disgusted with MCA, but a bigger part of me is crying to see my fellow Chinese Malaysians stoop to such levels just to survive politically.

Myop101: Jessie Ooi, you did what you did and you know you had your five minutes of air time. Being poorly prepared is a poor excuse for appearing like an incoherent idiot.

As for MCA talking big about governance, what has MCA to offer as a matter of policy to improve the governance of this country? MCA only knows how to harp on Islamic state. But how are they addressing corruption, cronyism and abuse of power?

At least, even though it might sound outlandish, perhaps the Islamic state is one of the better solutions available to seriously stop these criminals who go scot free.

I am tired of listening to a party that continue to harp on fear instead of inspiring others how this nation can move forward. Doesn't MCA get that? We want leadership.

Onyourtoes: All these are just a farce: we have a half-baked politician wannabe making an insignificant comment; the people and even the municipal councillors reacting disproportionately and making almost irrational reactions as if their lives depend on it; and of course now, we have media including online media devoting and focusing on this nincompoop issue non-stop as if the whole survival of this nation depends on it.

I have long realised it is not difficult for corrupt, incompetent and stupid politicians to govern this country because the people are essentially nincompoop. We get excited on non-significant issues, while the more important ones are left attended.

Just compare the number of comments on news items that carried more complicated but important issues with those that are gossips and no-brainer issues, and you will know what I meant.

Maybe the strategist consultants Umno-BN engaged have finally "broke the code" of the people. What they need to do now is get more people like Ms Equality and now Ms Tow Track to do the distraction.

You know, I even want to think perhaps the Pakatan Rakyat municipal councillors and supporters are also unwittingly drawn into the game. Why the almost spontaneous reaction of the councillors as if the municipals are beyond criticism?

And now why the response of the whole MCA hierarchy to defend this insignificant party apparatus. You don't get to find MCA officials defending their president or deputy president the way they defend this Ms Tow Track.

Bob Teoh: Can we please put a stop to this unfortunate episode? What if it were you who made such a mistake and being abused non-stop on the Internet. Let's move on to things that make a difference. By the way, I am not an MCA member but PKR.

ONG: Bob Teoh, I feel that you made two wrong assumptions when you said, "What if it were you who made such a mistake."

Assumption 1: Jessie Ooi made a mistake. So far neither Ooi nor MCA has admitted that her uncouth behaviour was a mistake.

Assumption 2: The rest of us may also make the same 'mistake'. I find it extremely unlikely that others can emulate Jessie Ooi's unique performance.

Her question to LGE was presented in the form of an outright attack from the word go. She went into a lunatic frenzy without any provocation from LGE.

However, I agree with you that we should move on to more important issues. But how to move on from this rather petty issue when Wanita MCA Beliawanis chief Tee Hooi Ling and MCA Youth secretary-general Chai Kim Sen will not let the people move on?

They are renewing the provocation started by Ooi last weekend. Tee described critics behaviour as "uncouth" when it was Ooi who was uncouth, while Chai made irrelevant and unconnected statements in Ooi's defence.

Jessie Ooi should learn to live with her self-inflicted wounds instead of complaining about them. The more important question is whether she has learned anything useful from her uncouth behaviour.

Instead of complaining about other's "uncouth behaviour", I suggest MCA persuade Ooi to make a sincere apology instead of making silly excuses for her behaviour. After that, maybe the public will allow her to move on.

'BN-tai-kor-Umno-style' attack on Anwar & his car?!

Anwar unfazed by Sembrong attack

Despite the attack against PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim at a ceramah in Sembrong, Johor, last Sunday, the opposition leader vowed that he would not be cowed by such violence.

Relating the incident in which his vehicle was stoned and kicked to some 1,000 people at a ceramah in Gombak Setia, Selangor, last night, Anwar said, "Soon after I got to Sembrong at 11:30pm from Endau, my car was attacked and dented by a group of youngsters, and the mirrors were broken. There were police around, but they were unable to control the situation. And when I was about to present my speech, the youngsters threw firecrackers."

"If there was any Umno remnant in you, discard it. Please stop, it shames us. Don't be fools or try to fool others - be someone who has pride," Anwar told the crowd before singing a line from the Umno song, "Lambang kita yang gagah" (Our mighty symbol), to the amusement of the crowd.

Kanna Curry House: Real banana leaf out, paper in!

The last time I had a banana leaf meal at Kanna Curry House was on Sunday, 4 December 2011.

It was simply delicious. Why? Reason being the food was served on the authentic banana leaf and I didn't have to pay for it! Now who says there is no free luncn in this world? ;)

Unfortunately, beginning this year, Kanna Curry House has been serving the dishes on paper “leaves” that look like the real ones. The popular restaurant chain has 'turned over a new leaf' due to two reasons - hygiene and shortage of banana leaves.

How sad!

What hygiene? If my memory serves me well, I have never had a diarhoea from eating banana leaf meal at Kanna Curry House though I am not a regular customer.

Will I go there again to try the new paper banana leaf meal?

If I know I can get to have another free lunch, I will!

A banana leaf meal on paper

By YVONNE LIM
yvonnelim@thestar.com.my

PETALING JAYA: You've had “paper thosai”. So how about paper banana leaf lunch?
Breaking away from tradition for the sake of hygiene and due to a shortage of banana leaves, a popular restaurant chain has decided to replace the leaves with bio-degradable paper “lookalikes”.
Kanna Curry House, which is famous for its South Indian banana leaf meals, is now serving the dishes on paper “leaves” that look like the real ones.
Patrons settling down to a banana leaf lunch at a popular restaurant in Petaling Jaya. But it was a banana leaf spread with one big difference. - RAJA FAISAL HISHAN /The Star
“We have a shortage of banana leaves,” said restaurant assistant manager Muthu Kumar, 23, at the chain's Section 17 outlet here.
“Another reason for the change is because a lot of our customers have been complaining that the leaves are dirty. For us to clean each leaf individually is just too much work.”
He said the restaurant chain used up to 5,000 banana leaves daily.
Muthu added that the change would be implemented at the other outlets all over the Klang Valley.
“Some of our regular customers said using the paper leaves take away the authenticity of the traditional banana leaf meals.
Breaking tradition: An employee of Kanna Curry House showing the difference between the banana leaf (left) and the paper leaf.
“However, most of them don't mind the change as it ensures cleanliness,” he said.
A regular customer at the restaurant's Section 17 outlet for over 15 years, Mary Chong, 48, said although she preferred having her meals on a “real” banana leaf, she would continue to patronise the restaurant because she enjoyed the food.
“The paper leaves take away the feel of a banana leaf meal, but the food still tastes the same,” she said.
Shamrat Sengupta, 34, who frequents the outlet for breakfast before heading off to work, said it was “strange to eat from leaves made of paper, but at least it was clean”.
Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners' Association president Datuk R. Ramalingam Pillai said he did not foresee other banana leaf eateries in Malaysia following suit and replacing organic leaves with paper ones.
“Indians have practised eating on banana leaves for centuries. In Malaysia, the banana leaf meal is a staple among locals and has even become a tourist attraction.
“It is true that it is harder to get the leaves now, but in my opinion, banana leaf restaurants should not stop using real leaves as it takes away the authenticity of the traditional meal,” he said.

Jessie Ooi, Ms Tow Truck of Malaysia Carpark Association aka MCA

A little known MCA politician, Jessie Ooi (right), a Selangor MCA activist, has become an unwitting ‘star' online after the conclusion of the debate between MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng yesterday.

kak tunda mca jessie ooi 2 Ooi has become an Internet sensation of sorts because of the manner in which she posed a question to Lim, as well as its content.

Chinese Daily Kwang Wah Jit Poh described Ooi as having her face and ears flushed, and her voice breaking as she scowled into the microphone and said, "I am ‘half' a Penangite. You always talk about lightening the people's burden. But assessment rates are up. All prices are going up. Moreover, at 10.30pm at night, I saw this twice with my own eyes, 10.30pm the roads are devoid of cars, but you still ask enforcement officers to tow cars. It concluded with a fight where there were severe injuries. How do you explain this security issue? Is this called lightening the people's burden?"

kak tunda satirical pixAs the debate was televised live, scores of videos clips featuring Ooi's question have been shared through Facebook and other social media platforms with netizens pouring scorn over the incredulous and incoherent nature of her tirade, along with the fact that Penang's assessment rates had not changed since 2007.

Tee Keat told the truth. MCA had to bring him down!

“Umno talks about Ketuanan Melayu (Malay Supremacy). Is MCA brave enough to stop them? Can’t MCA see, this two-race system is within BN itself,” the Penang chief minister said.
The Bagan MP also referred to the RM250 million National Feedlot Centre (NFC) scandal that has engulfed Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, calling it “just the tip of the iceberg.”
“Former MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat has admitted MCA used to eat Umno’s leftovers. But now MCA can only get breadcrumbs,” he said.
Dr Chua, who deposed Ong as party president in March 2010 after a protracted power struggle, dismissed Ong’s statement, pointing out “that’s why in one year, we brought him down.”

Chua Soi Lek finally 'let the cat out of the bag'.

The day Ong Tee Keat opened his big mouth against big brother Umno was the day MCA made haste to bring him down.

In one year, Tee Keat was replaced by an ex-porn star!

Real taiko is BN, Umno gang leader. MCA machai!

RPK wrote 'ABU? Betul ke?' and said:
Actually, it is not enough to just kick out Umno the political party. Umno has less than 80 seats in Parliament. And there are 222 seats altogether. So Umno needs to win at least 112 seats to become the Taiko. Hence Umno can never be the Taiko and in fact never was. The real Taiko is Barisan Nasional, with Umno as the CEO or gang leader.

Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said today that voters should not write off MCA in the coming general election just because DAP succeeded in making large gains in the previous polls.

Unlike DAP is democracy and all Malaysians regardless of race, MCA is merely the MaChAi of Umno.

Abdul Rahman was challenged to put his career on the line over his allegations on the Bayan Mutiara sale. — File pic
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 18 — Ivory Properties Group Bhd (IPGB) came out today to dispel claims that it had purchased prime state-owned land in Penang’s Bayan Mutiara for below market rate and without an open tender.
The public-listed property development firm declared in a statement here that it had bought the land upon emerging the highest bidder in an open and competitive tender called by the Penang government, which closed on December 31, 2010.

Upon winning its bid, the 41.5ha piece of property was purchased for RM240 per square foot (psf) or a total of RM1.072 billion, IPGB said.

The group added that in its original bid, it had sought to purchase the land at the same RM240 rate but to be paid for over eight years.

Lim said he was ready to quit politics for good if his accusers could prove their claims.
“In awarding the tender to IPGB as the highest bidder in 2011, the state government imposed an additional requirement of reducing the term of payment from the original eight years to five years.
“This was agreed to by IPGB and all necessary announcements were lodged with Bursa Malaysia,” it said in the statement.

According to IPGB chairman and group chief executive officer Datuk Low Eng Hock, the group has to date paid the deposit of RM22.1 million for the land.

“The remainder will be paid according to the scheduled progress payment after IPGB’s shareholders’ approval at the extraordinary general meeting, which is scheduled on March 5, 2012,” he added.

IPGB’s statement today comes amid accusations by several Umno leaders, including Sabah MP Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahalan and Penang Umno chairman Datuk Zainal Abidin Osman, that the Penang government sold the prime real estate at a 50 per cent discount to private developers.

According to their allegations, the 41.5ha plot in question was actually worth RM420 psf, well above the RM240 psf it was sold at.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has, however, repeatedly refuted this, and instead challenged to two Umno leaders to furnish proof of their claims.

He added yesterday that he was even willing to “retire from politics” if the duo could prove that the land sale was not done through open competitive tender.

“If Datuk Zainal Abidin Osman and Datuk Abdul Rahman fail to prove that there was no open competitive tender, would they then dare to accept my challenge to retire from politics?

“The two Umno leaders should accept this challenge to prove that they are not engaging in a systematic campaign of lies to undermine and sabotage the state government’s open tender policy and affordable housing programme,” he said in a statement.

The story of a prime minister: Najib, Gordon Brown?

Zairil Khir Johari is a chocolate purveyor, chicken rice enthusiast and noodle lover. When he's not preoccupied with any of the above, he is also a politician.
February 17, 2012
FEB 17 — This is the story of a man who became prime minister not very long ago.
This man had not, however, been elected into the premiership, and consequently never earned his own governing mandate. He had succeeded into the job when his predecessor was forced to resign under internal pressure. While the coup was not entirely of his own orchestration, this prime minister had played an important albeit implicit role in facilitating it.
His predecessor is an altogether different story. Initially elected with much fanfare by a buoyant nation on a platform of hope and change after years of rule by an authoritarian and right-of-centre leadership, his premiership had by its tail-end been reduced to a lethargic disappointment.
Though heavily criticised and the subject of mass ridicule, he was still able to pull through with a mediocre win at the general election. Remaining defiant, he announced that he would fulfil the mandate of the people and see through his term as prime minister.
However, his own party members had other plans. Disenchanted with his leadership, the internal politicking began. New pacts were formed, loyalties shifted and deals were cut. Attention now turned to our protagonist, the then-deputy prime minister, a man long known for his loyalty and methodical methods.
Convinced that the gamble would pay off, he began to make his moves. Though his actions were not overt, the die was cast and the message was clear. In the end, faced with open revolt and under immense pressure, the incumbent prime minister had no choice but to announce that he would step aside within a year. Even that was too long and before the year was up, his premiership had crumbled to an abrupt end.
Expectations were high for the new prime minister. In an elaborate campaign to both distinguish himself from his predecessor and spruce up his public image, he took on the mantle of a statesman with vision for leadership and change.
This led to a popularity high and favourable approval ratings. Soon, the opportunity for snap polls presented itself. With the benefits of a honeymoon period still lingering, it would have been the perfect time to call it. Yet an indecisive itch overcame him and he decided against it at the last minute. Instead, he thought it best to wait for a better opportunity.
In hindsight, that was perhaps his biggest mistake.
As days went by, the public began to realise that a man who has been a part of the system for so long is really incapable of change. His promises of a better future began to ring hollow amidst growing economic uncertainty.
The longer he was into his administration, the more problems unravelled. Financial irregularities and scandals involving his party members made dimmer and dimmer the prospect of a desirable moment for a general election.
Yet the prime minister kept waiting and waiting, until by the time he knew it, his government’s term of office was up. In the end, what was supposed to have been snap polls that would have leveraged upon his then-popularity and caught his opponents by surprise had become an exercise that was easily predicted by all and sundry.
Having rigorously prepared for so long, the hungry opposition wasted no time in pouncing aggressively. Without the element of surprise, the prime minister had lost the upper hand and soon found himself on the defensive. Election Day came and the nation delivered its result. Though not very conclusive, it was certainly very clear about one thing: the people had rejected the prime minister.
After a short period of denial and desperate attempts at forming a coalition, the prime minister had little choice but to accept his fate. Indecisiveness, poor decision-making and the inability to carry out necessary reforms are traits that will characterise his legacy as a short-lived prime minister who had never won his own mandate.
This is the story of the former British prime minister, Gordon Brown.

Will Jamil Khir ban the Valentine's Yemeni cookies?

From Yemen with love!

Yes, everyone fell in love with the yummy cookies that my Yemeni colleague made!

One Malay 'tudung' girl took a bite and blurted, 'Qasem, oh my god, marry me!'

BUY THIS FOR YOUR MUM FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

Location: Secret Market @ Bungalow 153, Jalan Ampang

Date: Saturday, 11/02/2012

A seller of preloved stuff to a kid:
Buy this for your mum for Valentine's Day.

Kid:
No way, she's going to kill me with it!

What was it? Simply a doggie pie server. 8D

This seller was a Muslim and mother of two kids. She was wearing a tudung ikat belakang.

She was just trying to suggest to the kid who was her relative to buy the pie server for his mom as a Valentine's Day gift.

Though Valentine's Day was originally meant for couples, it has, over the years, evolved to become a Day dedicated to demonstrating love!

So, I just don't understand why there are people who are demonstrating against demonstrating love!

Siapa gila babi? Polis, KFC, saksi yg rakam video?!

Kalau mau makan, sendiri makan, babi! KFC baru?!

This picture is going viral in Facebook.

While I agree with the victim who said stop fanning racial flames, I am against the reaction of the employee of the KFC i-City.

A 'famous' fast food establishment such as KFC should always remember the old adage “the customer is king”.

Whether or not the victim provoked attack, as long as you attacked someone, you have committed a crime.

Tony: Is NFCorp CEO Izmir lying through his teeth?

Is National Feedlot Centre (NFC) Chief Executive Officer Wan Shahinur Izmir lying through his teeth when he claimed that the RM250 million loan could be used as it please including purchasing 3 multi-million ringgit luxury condominium units in Singapore?
Tony Pua
I am completely shocked to read that National Feedlot Centre (NFC) Chief Executive Officer Wan Shahinur Izmir making the claim that the NFC "had the right to use the RM250 million government loan as it deemed fit" as long as it repaid the interest.
“The issue of NFC managing its loan monies amounting to RM250 million is the company’s responsibility to administer and utilise... NFC retains the prerogative to invest the funds in the best interests of the company,” Izmir said.
The CEO of NFC, who is also the son of Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, responded as such to additional exposes that the NFC loan has been used to purchase 2 new luxury condominium units in Singapore worth RM17 million each under the name of Datuk Seri Mohamed Salleh Ismail, who is the chairman of NFC as well as Shahrizat's husband. These purchases were on top of another luxury condominium in Singapore, 2 luxury units in Bangsar as well as a piece of land in Putrajaya.
However during our Public Accounts Committee meeting on the NFC scandal on 23 November 2012, the senior Ministry of Finance (MoF) official was very specific in saying that the loan cannot be used for purpose other than that specified, and there was definitely no provision for the loan to be used for property "investment".
The senior MoF officer even explained that the purpose for each drawdown must be clearly stated. When further queried, the officer confirmed that the MoF who provided the RM250 million loan facility had never received an application to purchase propety.
Therefore if the senior MoF official was telling the truth when testifying with the PAC, then Wan Shahinur Izmir must be lying through his teeth to defend the indefensible.
During the meeting, the PAC has specifically requested for documents relating to the NFC scandal be presented to the committee for review and verification. These documents included the loan agreement, the schedule, terms and conditions of loan drawdown by MoF, financial reports of the NFC as well as other relevant documents.
It was decided during the meeting that the next meeting shall be held at the soonest possible time in January to ensure that the PAC is able to get to the bottom of the scandal.
It is unfortunate that no meeting has yet been called by the PAC chairman to date on this matter, as well as on another matter - the 1MDB projects - to date. We hope that the matters will not be delayed further as the rakyat deserves to know the truth, and nothing but the truth as soon as possible especially on these projects which have scandalised the nation.

NFCorp: Loan not public funds? Your grandfather's?!

The agreement for the RM250 million government soft loan to the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) does not prohibit the company from using the funds for investments unrelated to the cattle industry, said its CEO. “The idea of (NFC’s) loan money being equated to public funds by hardline critics is a political ploy intended to deceive the public,” its CEO,  Wan Shahinur Izmir Salleh, said.

So, loan from the governemnt not public funds?

If not public funds, then whose funds?

Where does the government get its fund from?

Your grandfather?

ENGKAU JANGAN BULLSHIT, MR. CEO.

Open secret: Yeah, Shahrizat has One Menerung! ;)

Director of strategy Rafizi Ramli talked to Malaysiakini in an interview last week.

Malaysiakini: How did PKR get the information on NFC?

NONERafizi said:
He had to admit that they started off not knowing anything as alll they had were public documents available through public searches and their two objections initially was the fact, firstly, it was given to a company owned by a minister’s family, with no background in the industry. Secondly, they did not meet the target despite having two or three years.

azlanGenerally, more and more information just came through email, or sometimes people just drop a piece of paper.

If one were to search on the Internet, there are a lot of rumours on NFC, where they had their properties, etc. Then they had to do the other 50 percent corroborative work and really had to go track down where the properties were and confirm it is their property.

In the case of Singapore it was quite easy as one could do a search with the authorities. It’s just that.

But he did have a PDF copy of the cash payouts which is from a whistleblower, whom he still didn’t know to this day.

Malaysiakini: How do you know it is genuine?
Rafizi said:
That’s why as he said 50 percent of the work was on their part. From the cashbook, one could see some money coming in and going out and that could be corraborated. In the case of the loan, for example, that could be corraborated with their financial statements filed with ROC.

Likewise, from those cash payments, they saw four payments to Banda Raya Developments Berhad. It was a mistake (for them) as they actually put down One Menerung there. They just went there and started asking around, and a lot of people would just say, “Yeah, Shahrizat has one condo here.” If you were to ask people in Umno and they would say it is an open secret.

BN Beli Undi: Korek wang EPF bantu orang miskin!

Skim pinjaman rumah EPF sembunyi hutang kerajaan

February 06, 2012
Naib presiden PKR Nurul Izzah Anwar. — Gambar fail
