Today, The Star Online reported 'Return cash, Khir's wife told'. I was irked when I read:

Khir was quoted as saying they were worried that the money, which was raised for the welfare of children, would not be used for the correct purpose.

Come one, Khir. Balkis' worry is utterly unfounded. Why did they ASSUME that the money would be misused? What was their assumption based on?

A Tale of Two Tummies

I was, once upon a time, a scrawny teenager who had been nicknamed a 'bag of bones'.
As I entered adulthood, my metabolic rate gradually decreased. My diet was rich in fat. Consequently, my middle kingdom began to develop.

Now, in my mid-thirties, I am facing one of the biggest battles of my life - the battle of the bulge. Lately, the border of the bulge extended by another inch leaving me almost 'pant-less'.

Nowadays, my belly even gets more attention when my preggy wife and I are out in social circles. I sometimes get remarks like, 'Wah, your tummy..how many months already ah?' and When is your baby coming out?' Candidly, I will reply, 'My baby is long overdue!'

Here's a comparison of the two tummies. Tell me, which one is his and hers?

I was surprised to read the news today that Hishamuddin said sorry for wielding the keris.

Also, I was surprised he said as a leader, he must be gracious and accept the consequences because the party came first.

The party comes first? He still doesn't get it.

The rakyat, the people, comes first. Not the party. The rakyat is the one that seals your fate. Remember that!

Grand Saga official pelted with stones

A REPRESENTATIVE from Grand Saga Sdn Bhd, the concessionaire for the Cheras-Kajang Highway, was pelted with stones yesterday when he threatened to restore the dismantled barricade at the Bandar Mahkota Cheras toll-free access road. (Full story click here)

Haven't they learnt from the past? The Metramac vs. Cheras folk years ago over the RM0.50 toll charged at Taman Midah?

The Grand Saga REPRESENTATIVE was lucky that he was only pelted with stones. Nevertheless, he was unlucky to be appointed as a representative. Haha! Scapegoat!

Word of caution: Don't mess with the Cheras folk.

You pay – even if you don’t use ERL

PETALING JAYA (April 21, 2008): Passengers who fly off from Sepang have been paying an additional RM2 to RM6 in airport tax for the last six years – no thanks to a lopsided deal between the government and Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERLSB) which operates the Express Rail Link (ERL).

The KLIA Express connects KL Sentral and KL International Airport.

According to sources, under the terms of agreement for the RM2.8 billion ERL project, a portion of the airport taxes that departing passengers pay goes to the company – RM2 for domestic passengers and RM6 for international travellers from KLIA as well as the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT).

It is learnt that the rationale behind the concession agreement signed in 1997 is to ensure a return on investment for the service which started in 2002.

YTL Corporation holds a 50%-stake in ERLSB, which is responsible for building and operating the high-speed rail link. Tabung Haji Technologies Sdn Bhd holds 40% and Nadicorp Holdings Sdn Bhd the remaining 10%.

ERLSB operates under a 30-year concession, including an option to extend for another 30 years to own and operate the express rail link. The ERL faces competition from other public transport operators due to its fare of RM35 for a one-way trip.

Airport tax for KLIA is RM45 for international travellers and domestic passengers pay RM6. Airport tax for departures from the LCCT is RM6 for domestic and RM35 for
international passengers.

KLIA handled about 25 million passengers last year and the LCCT about eight million. “Half of these figures were departing passengers, which means ERL would be receiving in the region of RM80 million a year (from airport tax),” said a source.

Ali & Babi

I first knew about a certain chief minister's first foray into blogging when I read Jed Yoong's post. I didn't give much thought of it since I don't esteem that fellow anyway.

Yesterday, I read The Advocate's post that mentioned the chief minister's first post about the pig issue in Selangor. Consequently, it drew a barrage of 365 comments that made him shut down the blog as fast as he had set it up.

A friend who sticks closer than a brother

I only have a few friends. No, I am not sad. Rather, I am happy. Reason being the friendship that we have and share over the years has stood the test of time.

Two friends in particular that I will miss are Caleb & Debbie. Together with their three charming children - Caylie, Dylan & Dayson, they will soon start a new adventure in another land.

MJ & I will cherish the moments that we spent together as couples - shopping (countless times!), playing with and caring for the kids and all the fellowship at the table, eating and drinking! Doubtless, there were stressful times but they were just part and parcel of being together!

We thank God for you and wish you nothing but the best in your not-too-distant promised land!

Visit to Our Gynae @ UKMSC: BB BOY!

Though we waited approximately one hour for Prof Paul to arrive and another half an hour for our turn (we were third in the waiting list), we were happy to know the sex of the baby - finally!

The ultra scan was good enough to capture the 'two balls and one stick' but the gynae missed printing it. So, he had to scan for the second time but it was without 'the stick'. Hehe...

Beware of this Restaurant

The following account is true. The incident happened to my friend's client.

Dear All............


Last week, I brought my guests to Genting Highlands. After a day 'above the clouds', we decided to have dinner at the
Gohtong Jaya area on the way down.


We ordered some dishes and decided to have a steamed fish as well. So the captain recommended 'sultan fish'.
The steamed fish came. HALF, and plain steamed. Good & fine.


But when the bill came, it came to over $500 !! We were shocked !! We were told the fish was 1.4kg ( & please bear in mind, its ONLY HALF A FISH ) at RM 320 per kg! RM 420!! This was daylight robbery. We were not informed by the Captain that a kg of the Sultan fish would cost us RM 320 and there was also no signs of such pricings anywhere in the restaurant.


When we checked with the cashier, she told us, its correct !!


Of cos, it was our mistake for not asking the price first.


Anyway, on the way back to KL, we stopped at Unique Seafood,PJ, where one can choose a live fish. The most expensive Soon Hock swimming in the tank is RM135 per kilo. Asked them about the Sultan fish, it is going for RM100 a kilo.



Will be sending this letter to the newspapers, Tourism board, etc etc; and friends, pls pass on to all on yr email list.

Sorry seems to be the hardest word

'Justice was served' - The Star Online reported. How? By merely paying tribute and announcing goodwill ex gratia payments to the six sacked judges in 1998 as well as measures to reform the judiciary? So easy, I can announce that too as a proxy.

Reading the following made me sad:

Shout to The Lord American Idols on Idol Gives Back

I only knew last Sunday that the contestants of American Idol performed the song 'Shout to The Lord' on 4-10-2008 (10 April).

I also came to understand that 'Shout to The Lord' was at the number 8 spot in number of votes garnered in the popular song category, something like that? Perhaps, someone reading this post and knows the fact can give me an accurate account.

The last time I watched American Idol final was when Fantasia won. What season was it? 3 or 4?

After that, my interest naturally waned. Personally, the irony is that I find reality shows like American Idol somewhat unreal. I guess reality shows sell due to its spontaneity and natural action-reaction. Ok, coming back to the song, just listen to the lyric and see if you can catch any difference.

While listening to Allworship.com, I was inspired by this song. Googled for 'kathryn scott - i belong' but couldn't find a streaming audio or video of the original. Neither youtube nor the official site of Kathryn Scott has it.

I not only dowloaded one song but the album as well! Ooops...Sorry. Am I guilty of partaking in illegal file sharing? I think not since my motive is not profiteering.

MacroK SMS: You Better Watch Out!

Follow-up to my previous post, I am half-pleased and half-pi**ed that Maxis has given 50% refund of the unsolicited SMSes from MacroK SMS, an External Content Provider (ECP).

The 50% refund is itemized as 'Goodwill Credit - Recovery' under 'Adjustment'.

Besides the MCMC, I believe Maxis, as a corporate citizen, ought to have the corporate responsiblity to protect its subcribers from any unscrupulous ECP. Why not blacklist and bar the ECP from spamming? By doing so, I am sure Maxis will be able to maintain its loyal customers as well as gain new subscribers.

Before the MCMC and mobile operators do anything to block SMS spamming, the subscribers just have to watch out for scammers! Take a good look at your monthy bill and don't take it for granted that you are shielded against unsolicited SMSes.

Yesterday, Monday 7 April 2008, in The Star Online, I have no regrets, says Sufiah.

Exactly one month ago on the same date, also in The Star Online, Dr M: No regrets over Anwar’s jailing.

Incidentally, yesterday in Bernama.com, Dr Mahathir Should Have Taken On Mantle Of Statesman After Retirement, Says Karpal, the lawyer-politician also said,
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Karpal said the negative publicity Malaysia had secured as a result of maths prodigy-turned-hooker, Sufiah Yusof, whose mother is a Malaysian married to a Pakistani, was causing the country's image considerable harm.

He said from a prodigy, she was now a self-proclaimed prostitute in Britain, adding that it was necessary to get to the root of the matter to determine what had caused the girl, now 23, to sink into the depth of degradation.

"I call upon the Prime Minister to direct the Malaysian High Commissioner to Britain to meet up with Sufiah and find ways and means to get her back on the right track. It is obvious that Sufiah requires psychiatric treatment," said Karpal. It was reported in the "News of the World" that Sufiah is now a 130-pound an-hour hooker operating from her dingy back street flat.

She created news when she was accepted into Oxford University at the age of just 13.
Come on, Karpal. Give Sufiah and Dr M a break. Leave them alone. Both live very opposite lives but they have their rights!
