Khir Toyo: Bad decisions made on the advice of civil servants and fellow politicians

So, Khir Toyo said, "Don't make me a scapgoat'.

Smart dentist, eh. ;)

He even pointed out that Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak faced similar situations. So, they too like Khir, had made bad decisions because of "information void".

Hehe...Khir Toyo had made PM Najib look so BAD!

Our Pegawai Tadbir and Diplomatic service (PTD) is structured in such a way that they are there to provide options to their political masters without fear or favour. There has been no PTD officer who has been sacked from the service for reasons other than corruption. And certainly not for having provided the options.

The situation we have now is that many CMs and ministers have been in their position too long in comparison to PTD officers in certain ministries and depatrments. And naturally they the ministers will know more than the PTD officer. But that only applies for the ministry as a whole. But when it comes to current proposals and individual projects the PTD officer is best placed because of the infrastructure he has to provide the best options that are available.

When I was in service I had to handle projects with Japan. There it takes a full three years for a project from idea stage to decision stage. But once the decision is made the project is completed in 12 months. The is no GO LOOK and STOP syndrome. It is a bit disingenuous now to blame the PTD officers for projects that turn sour. Orang PTD.
