MP wants AirAsia’s Azran to leave country for criticising Utusan
Barisan Nasional's Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin today
urged AirAsia X chief executive Azran Osman Rani to leave the country
for criticising Utusan Malaysia.
Calling Azran "melayu biadap" while debating the royal address in
Parliament this morning, Bung Mokhtar said Azran should move if he was
not happy in Malaysia.
However, speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia advised the
controversial Bung Mokhtar not to use his parliamentary privilege to
launch attacks on civilians and government officers who were not in the
house to defend themselves.
Azran had earned Utusan Malaysia's displeasure after he had
criticised the Bahasa Malaysia daily's "Apa Lagi Cina Mau" story
following the general election story when Barisan Nasional had its worst
result since independence.
This led the newspaper to take aim at him and boycott advertising from the airline that he helms.
However, CIMB Group CEO Datuk Nazir Razak came to his defence.
Nazir praised Azran for his forthright attitude, saying that it was a "mark of a leader".
Nazir's defence of Azran promptly saw Utusan Malaysia label Nazir as "anti-Malay". - July 2, 2013.
