In the wake of widespread opposition to sports betting, tycoon Vincent Tan - whose Ascot Sports is the sole beneficiary of the gambling licence - pledged to donate over half a billion ringgit to charity.
KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — In a bid to quell a growing uproar over his sports betting licence, tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan today said he will donate the entire RM525 million from the sale of the stake to charity.

The question is 'Why only now?' If there was no oppostion, no allegations by RPK, would he have donated all the money? Tan said he would get zero. What a hero! ;-)
