Anti-ISA for anti-pig for ISA - www.malaysiakini.com
An anti-ISA rally held at the Bandar Baru Bangi stadium last night had a minor hiccup when a group of activists tried to barge in to hand a memorandum to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang seeking his help to resolve the pig farming issue in Malacca. The group from the Majlis Permufakatan Ummah (Pewaris) and the Gabungan Gerakan Melyu Muda (GGMM) also tried to hand over the memorandum to PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was not present at the rally. The two NGOs, along with some 200 activists, had came all the way from Paya Mengkuang, Malacca - some wearing T-shirts with slogans in support of ISA and against pig farming - sought the intervention of the two leaders to resolve the pig farming issue in their village which had dogged them for more than three decades...Hadi, when addressing the 2,000-strong crowd, said he would take a closer look at the memorandum submitted by the two NGOs and decide on whether to offer assistance. (Source: Malaysiakini) For ISA and against pig farming? Strange indeed. Will PAS intervene? If so, PAS will be seen as intolerant. Will pigs be totally wiped out of Malaysia one day? Perhaps. Then, Malaysia can truly be called MALAYsia or 'MALAYland'. ;-)

Zahar is PAS Christmas eve gift - www.malaysiakini.com
I must say quite a convincing 'starter' speech. No doubt PAS is seen as a way-much-cleaner party. I don't think any party is free of corruption. IF that is so, then that party can claim to be God. On another note, PAS must be seen to be fair to all races and religions - not just the Malay Muslims. 8|

Indeed, we are living in very challenging times. Malaysia will not be spared the economic woes despite the 'reassurances' from the government that semuanya OK. Of course, the majority of the rakyat will not buy the sweet talk. Why is it hard for the government to come clean on the real hard fact of our economy?

Selangor set to be a disabled-friendly state - www.malaysiakini.com
Indeed, there is a need for a shift in mindset of an ordinary bloke regarding the disabled and it goes beyond having more disabled-friendly facilities. All of us know that these facilities are sometimes abused by non-disabled people. Thus, I think punishment ought to be meted out to these abusers.

IPF in. PPP out? - Malaysiakini.TV
Kuala Lumpur, Dec 15: The Indian Progressive Front could be joining the ranks of Barisan Nasional after a 20-year wait.
This was revealed by BN and Umno sec-gen, Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor when he attended IPF's assembly yesterday.
IPF was formed by former MIC vice-president MG Pandithan who passed away on April 30th this year after a long illness. The acting president has since been Pandithan's wife, Jayashree.
The Assembly wasn't without controversy however as about 150 members caused a commotion at the entrance to the hotel where the meeting was being held. Amongst other things protesters displayed their disatisfaction with the party leadership claiming that acting president Jayashree, is not Malaysian.
At the press conference Jayashree said that it is only a few members who are unhappy because of the disciplinary action taken against some members for breaching party rules.
Big MACC doesn't bite - www.malaysiakini.com
Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim today gave conditional support to the proposed Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Bill. He however expressed reservations to several provisions of the Bill, touted as part of the prime minister's reform agenda...Anwar clarified that his support comes with several reservations, particularly because the MACC does not hold any prosecutory powers..., adding that ACA has been asking for the power to prosecute since its formation. He argued that the commission's integrity may be compromised because of complaints of irregularities and abuse of power that have been made against the AG's Chambers. Citing an example, Anwar claimed that he was told by reliable sources that ACA found a case against AG Abdul Gani Patail in relation to the alleged fabrication of evidence in his (Anwar's) 'black eye' incident 10 years ago. (Source: Malaysiakini)
Nobody is perfect. Thus, no one is above the law. So who will prosecute the AG if there's a case against him? Hence, it only makes sense for MACC to hold the prosecutory powers but then again, all of us know the government will protect itself first, then only the rakyat. ;)

Five fellows in public hall of shame still hope to clear their names! - www.malaysiakini.com
These five fellows in the public hall of shame still hope to clear their names. Too bad-too lil-too late.
Why some people have all the luck?
Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks they
deserve?
A psychologist says he has discovered the answer.
Ten years ago, I set out to examine luck. I wanted to know why some people
are always in the right place at the right time, while others consistently
experience ill fortune. I placed advertisements in national newspapers
asking for people who felt consistently lucky or unlucky to contact me.
Hundreds of extraordinary men and women volunteered for my research and over
the years, I have interviewed them, monitored their lives and had them take
part in experiments.
The results reveal that although these people have almost no insight into
the causes of their luck, their thoughts and behaviour are responsible for
much of their good and bad fortune. Take the case of seemingly chance
opportunities. Lucky people consistently encounter such opportunities,
whereas unlucky people do not.
I carried out a simple experiment to discover whether this was due to
differences in their ability to spot such opportunities. I gave both lucky
and unlucky people a newspaper, and asked them to look through it and tell
me how many photographs were inside. I had secretly placed a large message
halfway through the newspaper saying: "Tell the experimenter you have seen
this and win $50."
This message took up half of the page and was written in type that was more
than two inches high. It was staring everyone straight in the face, but the
unlucky people tended to miss it and the lucky people tended to spot it.
Unlucky people are generally more tense than lucky people, and this anxiety
disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected.
As a result, they miss opportunities because they are too focused on looking
for something else. They go to parties' intent on finding their perfect
partner and so miss opportunities to make good friends. They look through
newspapers determined to find certain types of job advertisements and miss
other types of jobs. The lucky ones make the best of what they have and find
ways to make it better. Unlucky ones tend to find an easy way out and fail
in life.
Lucky people are more relaxed and open, and therefore see what is there
rather than just what they are looking for. My research eventually revealed
that lucky people generate good fortune via four principles. They are
skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions
by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via
positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad
luck into good.
Towards the end of the work, I wondered whether these principles could be
used to create good luck. I asked a group of volunteers to spend a month
carrying out exercises designed to help them think and behave like a lucky
person.
Dramatic results! These exercises helped them spot chance opportunities,
listen to their intuition, expect to be lucky, and be more resilient to bad
luck. One month later, the volunteers returned and described what had
happened. The results were dramatic: 80% of people were now happier, more
satisfied with their lives and, perhaps most important of all, luckier.
The lucky people had become even luckier and the unlucky had become lucky.
Finally, I had found the elusive "luck factor".
Here are Professor Wiseman's four top tips for becoming lucky:
1) Listen to your gut instincts - they are normally right
2) Be open to new experiences and find ways to make things work better.
Family and loved ones for a start.
3) Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well
4) Visualize yourself being lucky before an important meeting or telephone
call.
Have a Lucky day and work for it.
The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.
Personally, I would define 'luck' as 'blessed'. So, yeah. Life is all about ups and downs! 8) Up or down, I choose to be happy! Woooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooo! 8D

ACA probe almost done but will the AG act? - www.malaysiakini.com
I wonder if one of the 90 ACA investigation papers opened is related to the report lodge by Mazlan Harun against the PM and DPM. I guess it will not see the light of the day.
By the way, Chedet also wondered about Mazlan's report. Snippets from his blog post:
Corruption Report
1. Wonder what has happened to Mazlan Harun's report to the Anti Corruption Agency regarding corrupt acts by Dato Seri Abdullah and Dato Seri Najib, President and Deputy President respectively of UMNO.
2. According to Kadar Shah the report had also been made to the party but he did not think the party would act. It would incriminate the leaders of the party itself.
3. Previously when UMNO members in my former division of Kubang Pasu came with evidence that money was used to persuade the delegates not to vote for me, the case was dismissed by the UMNO Disciplinary Committee even though clear evidence were presented that they had been paid money not to vote for me.

Only Umno matters. Not MCA, MIC nor PPP - www.malaysiakini.com
Today, in Malaysiakini, he told PPP off, saying, "We have no plans to amend (the ISA)... if that is their choice (to leave), what can we do," he told a press conference after chairing the BN supreme council meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Last week, PPP president M Kayveas had urged the government to amend the security law before the next general elections, failing which, he warned that his party will pull out of the ruling coalition. (Source: Malaysiakini)
After Pak Lah got the 90% mandate, he said he was the PM for all Malaysians. Now we know 90% Umno support for him is paramount. 9% from all other BN component parties. 1% from the rakyat.

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF - Landslide at Hulu Kelang - www.malaysiakini.com
Needless to say, Malaysiakini has the breaking news updated 9.35am A massive landslide at 4 this morning buried eight bungalows in Bukit Antarabangsa, Hulu Klang. Four bodies have been found and eight to 10 people are still feared buried...The landslide has cut off the access road to the residential area, trapping hundreds of people at Bukit Antarabangsa in Hulu Klang. Azmin Ali, the state rep for Bukit Antarabangsa told Malaysiakini that rescuers are now fighting against time to reach those trapped under the mud and rubble...The politician said he rushed over to the scene at 4.30am soon after he received words of the landslide.
On December 11 1993, 48 people were killed when the Highland Towers Condominium in Hulu Klang collapsed. Let us pray for the rescue workers' safety as they seek to find more survivors. 8-|
