Former Umno Petaling Jaya Selatan division leader Zahar Hashim, who had alleged discrepancies in the RM1.6 billion Eurocopter deal, joined the opposition PAS today. The retired army captain submitted his application to PAS deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa at a function held in a hotel in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. The function is featured in Malaysiakini.TV - The video clip started with Selangor PAS chief Hasan Ali who said, 'Ask any PAS member for what he joins PAS, the reason is not to get projects, to increase the number of Mercedes Benz or improve the economic status of my family...but for the pleasure of God.' On his reasons to join PAS, Zahar said he had been thinking about this for some time now, especially after the March general election. I must say quite a convincing 'starter' speech. No doubt PAS is seen as a way-much-cleaner party. I don't think any party is free of corruption. IF that is so, then that party can claim to be God. On another note, PAS must be seen to be fair to all races and religions - not just the Malay Muslims. 8|
