Pregnant woman identifies female cop in 30 seconds
Store-owner Chow Soo Meng, who has accused plainclothes police officers of slapping and robbing her in Sungai Buloh last week, has identified the female officer who allegedly took RM20,000 in cash from her handbag.
On that fateful morning last Monday, a distressed 36-year-old Chow Soo Meng, who is eight months pregnant, called Segambut parliamentarian Lim Lip Eng and told him the police had stolen about RM20,000 in cash and several other items.
In her report lodged at the Kepong police station, she said, "The police took several types of cigarettes, six bottles of hard liquor, mandarin oranges and three cartons of canned drinks."
According to Chow, the officers, from the Petaling Jaya Narcotics Department, also took 30 mobile SIM cards and removed the closed-circuit TV camera recorder from her shop. When contacted, Lim told Malaysiakini that when Chow asked for the return of the RM20,000, the officer who arrested her refused to do so and told her not to make an issue of it or risk being rearrested. None of the items have been returned.

When police can be corrupt and perceived to be corrupt, we must not give in to the cops by bribing them. Maybe in Chow's case, they came to 'disturb' her, expecting something but when she refused to give in, she paid the price.
Paying the police to get ourselves out of trouble whether we have violated the law or not will worsen corruption.
Stand up and be counted. Say no to corruption!
