KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 — The Health Ministry should instruct the operator
of Kedai Rakyat 1 Malaysia stores to institute a refund policy for their
now-recalled 1 Malaysia branded products, DAP publicity chief Tony Pua
said today.
“We would call upon the minister to make the public announcement to
be printed in all mainstream newspapers for all consumers who have
purchased the products, to return the items to Kedai Rakyat 1 Malaysia
stores for a full refund. (Read more @ The Malaysian Insider)
In response to Pua's call, Ameer, the Mydin boss tweeted, “Milk withdrawn on 12nov so why u still playing it up not enough cheap publicity ke.”
Ameer's reaction is totally childish.
If Ameer is a genuine (and not a greedy) businessman who has the rakyat's wellbeing at heart, he would have made sure that the products were compliant with food regulations.
But then again, I guess that would have been a difficult duty to do since the cost and price of the products had to be kept as low as possible.
Whether or not Mydin is maximisng margins, it should not compromise on the quality of the products, all the more when low-income consumers are the target market.
