Close to a week has passed since the sudden arrest of cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Ulhaque, widely known as Zunar, and yet Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein is saying very little.Averting questioning from journalists, Hishammuddin said instead that the police force has always been fair and professional. When asked about the relative speed of police action as compared with other incidents of alleged racism, he said, "I'm just saying that there are so many cases with different facts. We don't want to make comments if they are under investigation."
Zunar was arrested just hours before he was scheduled to launch his latest comic book, Cartoon-O-Phobia on Sep 24 and released a little more than 24 hours later, but not before being transported to seven police stations around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Kinibooks (the publishing arm of Malaysiakini), Zunar's publisher, was also searched by the police.
