BREAKING NEWS A three-member Federal Court panel - comprising Chief Judge Malaya Justice Arifin Zakaria, Justice James Foong and Court of Appeal judge Suriyadi Halim Omar - today dismissed Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim’s appeal to strike out his second sodomy charge in 10 years and ruled the matter should go for a full trial despite objections from the defence that medical reports show no sign of penetration.
The unanimous decision was announed by Arifin who said the medical report should be read in its entirety.
In an immediate reaction, Anwar's wife and PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail expressed disappointment over the verdict and said the judges merely issued two sentences in their decision, but added that this was to be expected.
