In a hastily-called press conference today, Abdullah announce the swapping of portfolios with his deputy. The former is now the defense minister while the latter is the finance minister. He also touched on Anwar's request for a meeting to discuss a power transfer to the opposition Pakatan Rakyat and described Anwar as a "threat" to national security. "He has become a threat to the economy and possibly (national) security," he said - a serious allegation which allows the government to invoke the draconian Internal Security Act against him. At about 9 PM today, my wife showed me a SMS from her colleague that read: 'Pls pray tat anwar is not caught under the ISA. Cos latest news at bernama according to badawi or bodohwi, anwar is a threat to the country and economy.'
I was with friends at that time and told them about the SMS. One of them retorted, 'What nonsense! Anwar is not a threat to the nation. He's only a threat to the government. It's the people, the nation who wants change.'
