Traditionally, the seventh day of Chinese New Year is also known as Renri (Chinese:人日, literally Human Day) refers specially to the 7th day of zhengyue (正月, the first month in the Chinese calendar). According to Chinese customs, renri was the day human beings were created. It is celebrated not only in China, but also other regions influenced by Chinese culture. (Source: Wikipedia).
I blogged about Renri last year. Click here to read the post. Today, I am reminded of Renri by my wife who wished everyone 'Happy Birthday' in church this morning.
Interesting to note that there is a day to commerate the creation of human beings in Chinese customs similar to the sixth day of creation in Genesis - So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:27). As we celebrate Chinese New Year, let us also remember that God is the Creator of all - He is the ONE. 8)
