Police chief's extension gets thumbs down

The recent extension of IGP Musa Hassan's services has not gone down too well with several prominent Sabah personalities. Malaysiakini in Kota Kinabalu has been swamped with mail with hardly any bouquets since Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein Onn and his cousin Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak both announced that "Musa's services are very much needed by the federal government for the moment".

The Star Online reported:
IGP Musa’s term extended, promises to reduce crime

Jeff Ooi posted 'The cousins' Raya gift to 1Malaysia...' said:
It was revealed at a recent parliamentary round-table on the the tenure of the IGP that in the seven years from 1997 to 2004, crime index increased by 29%; but in the four years from 2004 to 2008 -- when Musa was in office as the IGP -- crime index increased by 35.5%!

If Musa in all his years as the IGP couldn't even reduce crime, what makes him think that he can do it in one year?
