TM: DO NOT RELY ON POLICE ALONE

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Oct 28 — Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) expects to incur losses of almost RM3 million by end of this year due to cable theft, which is becoming more rampant, in Penang.

Its Penang general manager, Ir Lai Hook Kian, said that until September this year the company had recorded losses of RM2.7 million.

“The losses involved 465 cases of cable theft reported in Penang, especially in North Seberang Perai,” he told reporters at a function here today.

He said last year, the Penang TM recorded losses of RM2.5 million due to cable theft.

Lai said various initiatives had been taken by TM to address the problem, including the laying of underground cables, introduction of the wireless service, and installation of the alarm system.

He called for public cooperation to help reduce cable theft and not to rely on the police alone to do the job. — Bernama

Yes, even TM is a victim of theft. Yes, even the police can't do much. The job of the police is to combat crime, thus reducing it! Well, supposedly but it looks like the police cannot do the job.

So, TM has to call for public cooperation to HELP reduce cable theft. In other words, TM is calling the PUBLIC to HELP the POLICE.

Aiyoh...why the police so weak ah???
