Joseph or Yosef (Hebrew: יוֹסֵף , Standard Yosef Tiberian Yôsēp̄, Arabic: يوسف, Yusuf ; "May Yahweh add"[1]) was the eleventh of Jacob's twelve sons in the Hebrew Bible.[2] Joseph was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, but rose to become the most powerful man in Egypt after Pharaoh. He then brought his entire family down to Egypt, where they were settled in the land of Goshen. (Source: Wikipedia)
Two things marked the life of Joseph - success and significance. These are the two verses that tell us of his success:
- Genesis 39:3
When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did,
Genesis 39:2-4 (in Context) Genesis 39 (Whole Chapter) - Genesis 39:23
The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.
Genesis 39:22-23 (in Context) Genesis 39 (Whole Chapter)
Lastly, Joseph move from success to significance when all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph and do what he tells you." (Ge 41: 55)
