KUALA LUMPUR: Outgoing Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Musa Hassan said he is considering lodging a report regarding the interference of third parties in police operations during his tenure.
"I will look into it," said Musa at the handing over of power ceremony to new IGP Tan Sri Ismail Omar at Bukit Aman this morning.
When asked by The Malay Mail what advice he had for his successor to curb the interference, Musa said: "He (Ismail) has got to be firm."
Yesterday, it was reported PKR strategic director Tian Chua had urged Musa to lodge a police report.
Musa had on Monday said the biggest disappointment in his 41-year tenure was the interference and disrespect shown by third parties, which led to confusion within the force.
Musa, who will step down on Sunday, identified officials from the Home Affairs Ministry as those among the third parties he was referring to.
He said there were times when they had given orders to his personnel without his knowledge and jeopardised the chain of command in the force.
He added that they were from ministries "with personal interests and with bad intentions" to degrade the Royal Malaysian Police.
Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said yesterday he was unaware of Musa's allegations that his ministry was interfering in police business.
"Musa has never brought up the issue to the ministry, not even when I was leading the ministry all this while. I am of the opinion, and many have indicated so, that relations between my ministry and the police have been the best for a very long time."
Do it now, Musa! Your integrity and reputation are at stake!
