Go learn from PAS, you Pembela. You know not about Islam as PAS does!

How can lawfully defending one's religious rights amount to sedition, asks council leader who also tells the Muslim NGOs to 'go learn from PAS'.

The Malaysian Consultative Council for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism has criticised a group of Muslim non-governmental organisations, calling itself Pembela, for its act of intimidation by lodging police reports against the council. Its president, Reverend Dr Thomas Philips, said MCCBCHST's action in protesting the desecration of the Bible in the Malay language was in accordance with the law and the constitution.

Referring to a report in the Star today, accusing the council of making seditious remarks on the issue of the Bible in Malay, Thomas said, "How can defending one's religious and constitutional rights through lawful means amount to sedition, as reported by certain media? The action by Pembela to lodge a police report against us is tantamount to intimidation and could be seditious because it appears to be calculated to confuse the people to act against the council. In fact, Pembela should not be involved, as the conditions imposed do not refer to their holy scriptures."

Even my Muslim colleague, a Malay, said those who opposed to Christians using 'Allah' were stupid! He told me a lot of other 'un-Islamic' things that Jais or other Islamic agencies were doing. He also said there was no need for Muslim converts to 'convert' their names as Islam taught its adherents to honor and respect the name of their father or family name - hence, retaining his own original name.
