Hisham: Security concerns not the reason Dr Pornthip didn't appear at inquest

KUALA LUMPUR: Security concerns were not the reason why Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand did not appear at the Teoh Beng Hock inquest, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
"I have guaranteed her safety and have not set any conditions but she has not told us who is pressuring her," Hishammuddin told reporters at a conference at Putra World Trade Centre here Tuesday.
He said if Dr. Pornthip provided police with information on who was pressuring her not to testify, it would make their job of protecting her easier.
"I can prepare a police escort to pick her up from the airport and send her to court. I can also make sure the Special Operations Unit (UTK) is stationed in her room and I will make sure she goes back to Thailand safely," Hishammuddin added.
Earlier, he opened the International Conference on Defence and Security 2010 at the Defence Services Asia 2010 exhibition held at PWTC.
Entering Malaysia is already a life-threatening move for Pornthip but to be protected by UTK? SEI LOH
