KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 — Two ethnic Chinese Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders have openly snubbed Perkasa Youth’s demand for an apology, continuing instead to criticise the Malay rights group by saying that its struggles were not in line with the prime minister’s 1 Malaysia concept. Penang Gerakan chief Datuk Teng Hock Nan and MCA deputy secretary Low Chew June, who locked horns with the right-wing group when they labelled them “racists”, told The Malaysian Insider today that they refused to apologise for their statements.
All of us remember the spat between Nazri and Dr M when the former called the latter a racist. After that, Dr M hit back at Nazri, urging the minister to instead quit Umno because it was indeed a racist party (click here to read 'Dr M challenges Nazri to quit 'racist' Umno). Now that Perkasa is Umno's 'proxy' in defending the rights of the Malays, its statements and actions have been perceived to be banking on extremely divisive racial lines. Kudos to Teng and Low for sticking to their guns though I think Low should quit MCA because like Umno, it is also a racist party. Why fight for Chinese only? Fight for all Malaysians LAH!' Join Gerakan! ;)
