MACC has expressed hope that Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand will testify as scheduled during the Teoh Beng Hock inquest. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC), in a statement today, has expressed hope that Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand will testify as scheduled during the Teoh Beng Hock inquest and said, "This is to allow the case to be resolved quickly in order for all parties, including Teoh's family and MACC, to seek justice."
According to the two-paragraph statement, Pornthip need not worry because an assurance of her safety has been given by the police, attorney-general and Home Ministry.
In an exclusive interview with Malaysiakini, Pornthip had said she was pulling out of the inquest because she was facing "political pressure" from Putrajaya, as relayed to her by Thai government officials.
