SHAH ALAM, April 26 — A Sessions Court judge here today chided the prosecution in a criminal breach of trust (CBT) case involving an aide of Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu today for not prosecuting a witness in the case.
Judge Mat Ghani Abdullah, in acquitting and discharging Wong Chuan How without calling for his defence, said the person who should be charged in this case was Mohd Zaini Abd Rahman, a former Parti Keadilan Rakyat member.
“I want to criticise the way the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) works.
“The prosecution did not charge the third witness (Mohd Zaini), the person who received the money. I think he is the one who should be charged. That puzzles me,” he added.
Wong, 51, was alleged to have committed CBT involving a cheque for RM2,500, an allocation to organise a gotong-royong and a meeting for residents of Kampung Baru Lanjut in the Sungai Pelek state constituency at the Sepang district office between July 30 and Sept 16, 2008.
Mat Ghani held that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against Wong, who was represented by lawyers Imran Hadzalie Abdul Hamid, Salim Bashir and Teoh Lib Peng.
