JUSTICE FOR ALTANTUYA: Will justice be served? - www.malaysiakini.com

Finally, the day of decision. The Shah Alam High Court will decide tomorrow if three individuals have to enter their defence to a charge of murdering Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu...The prosecution closed its case against the trio on June 23 after 151 days of testimony from 84 witnesses. (Source: Malaysiakini)

What will the decision be? Should Justice Mohd Zaki rule that Azilah, Sirul and Abdul Razak have to enter their defence, the trio will have the opportunity to testify. But if the judge rules otherwise, they are likely to be acquitted and discharged.

If the decision is for the trio to enter their defence, well and good.

I can't imagine if the decision is otherwise. They may be go free but the ghost of Altantuya will not be appeased. One has to be the 'scapegoat' for the evening sacrifice. WUAHAHAHAHAHA

Kakitangan (staff) PKNS not happy with kepala (head) Cina - www.malaysiakini.com

I feel slighted and saddened over the reaction of PKNS staff toward the appointment of Low Siew Moi as the acting general manager. Why? Reason being she's a Chinese. In their joint memorandum dated Oct 25 to Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, the staff associations said: “PKNS was established for Malays and to fulfill the Malay agenda. Because of this, the organisation needs to be led by a Malay.” (Source: Malaysiakini)

Low, 57, a trained accountant, has served PKNS for 35 years with her last post being deputy GM for corporate development. Utusan Malaysia, meanwhile, reported that Khalid had defended his decision and described Low as “the most appropriate candidate” on the basis of her dedication and experience in corporate and financial affairs and asset management.

I can't help but think that Malaysia is now so divided. Thanks to race-based politics. Nevertheless, I have to applaud Khalid Ibrahim for sticking to his guns. Semoga Selangor terus maju dan berjaya!

Blogging...Mahathir and I

Obviously not me but that's the title of the post by Jeff Ooi, the blogger turned MP. From Jeff Ooi:

The New York Times story on Dr Mahathir and I, in our roles as Malaysian bloggers, is available on today's edition of International Herald Tribune (October 27, 2008).

The IHT is the international edition of New York Times. The story is by Seth Mydans, photographs by Palani Mohan.

Tun Dr M supports Datuk Shah Rukh Khan - www.malaysiakini.com

The 'datukship' for India's top Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan will help boost tourism in Malaysia, an official from Malacca state government said today...The 42-year-old heart-throb will receive his award on Nov 29, in a ceremony that will be aired live on India's top entertainment channel, Zee TV. "It is a boost for tourism in Malaysia. His movies are seen by people all over the world and this is cost-free advertisement for us," local parliamentarian Mohammad Sirat Abu told AFP.

Some have questioned the conferment of 'datukship'. Oposition politician Lim Kit Siang said local artists and celebrities should have been recognised ahead of Khan. However, former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad supported the move. (Excerpts from Malaysiakini)

I wonder if Tun's support has anything to do with him sharing the same 'root' with Khan (Dr M's grandfather was a Malayalee Muslim). Khan is also a Muslim. So, essentially, Dr M and Khan are Muslims of Indian origin. Sorry. I'm digressing but do read Tun's post on Khan's 'datukship' here. ;)

Does Shah Rukh Khan deserve a 'datukship'?

The qualifiers for VP contest - www.malaysiakini.com

breaking news updated 9.05pm Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar becomes the fifth candidate to qualify for the Umno vice-president race. The veteran Umno leader picked up his 20th nominations from the Petaling Jaya Utara division in Selangor today. (Source: Malaysiakini)

In an exclusive hour-long interview with Malaysiakini last week, it was reported that he appeared confident he could garner the required nominations by this weekend though his previous attempt for the vice-president's post in 2000 ended in failure. He also expressed hope that Umno members would want a mix of fresh and veteran leaders in the party. Syed Hamid will now join Hishammuddin Hussein, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Khaled Nordin dan Shafie Apdal in the battle for the three vice-president posts.

Syed Hamid also denied that his decision to ban Hindraf was to gain popularity in his bid for the vice-president’s post. Denial again. Will he be one of the three VPs come party polls in Mar 2009??

Mark 2 (New King James Version)

1 And again He entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house.
2 Immediately many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And He preached the word to them.
3 Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men.
4 And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”

Soi Lek, 'The Comeback Kid' - www.malaysiakini.com

Since Dr Chua Soi Lek made his ‘remarkable’ comeback to active politics by winning the MCA deputy president’s post last Saturday, the big poser in the minds of many is whether a morally tainted politician could be accepted back into public life. In a random survey by Malaysiakini, many felt that Chua’s comeback was too soon while others were sympathetic, saying that he should be given a second chance.

Surprisingly, among the sympathetic (and forgiving!) were two woman parliamentarians from the DAP - Batu Gajah MP Fong Po Kuan and Serdang parliamentarian Teo Nie Ching. Both opined that Soi Lek's morality issue was secondary if he could prove that he was a changed man and the people were confident and genuinely felt that he was a good and capable person.

For the two woman MPs, I wonder if they would be as sympathetic (and forgiving!) if their husband or partner did a 'Chua Soi Lek' on them. If yes, lucky men! Fong and Teo are so generous!!

Venezuela's Chavez: Palin a pitiful 'beauty queen'

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin a "poor thing" who didn't know what she was saying when she called him a dictator.

Friday's verbal attack was the latest in long history of creative insults by Chavez — but was not unprovoked.

In an interview with the U.S. Spanish-language network Univision aired Tuesday, Palin remarked that "through negotiations or sanctions, if necessary, we can pressure dictators like Hugo Chavez to make it clear that they cannot mess with the United States whenever they feel like it."

Speaking at an event to inaugurate a thermoelectric plant, Chavez said he had heard of Palin's remarks.

"The poor thing, you have to feel sorry for her," he said with a dismissive wave of his hand. Palin, he said, is "a beauty queen that they've put in the role of a figurine."

Chavez said one must do as Christ did: "Forgive her, for she knows not what she says."

Republican presidential candidate John McCain's choice of Palin as his running mate surprised the nation and prompted questions about her qualifications to serve as vice president. The McCain campaign had no comment on Chavez' comment.

Palin, the governor of Alaska, says she would take the lead as vice president in energy policy, overall government reform and working with families who have special-needs children.

Meaning of meek

King James Bible
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Young's Literal Translation
Happy the meek -- because they shall inherit the land.

Meek doesn't mean weak. 'Praeis' is the Greek word for meek.
Once upon a time the word MEEK characterized a person who was free of self-will, someone who wasn’t always interested in his or her own good, but was interested in the good of other people. The person painted by this view was not some obnoxious self-centered cad. Meek described the kind of person who didn’t care who got the credit as long as the job got done. A meek person was a strong person, centered enough in God that she or he could get good and angry about the way others were being treated. (Source: In Search of the Missing Praeis)

HOME MINISTER THINKS THE MAJORITY HAS NO BRAIN - www.malaysiakini.com

I would not say that ISA is a popular Act, (and) I would not say that the majority do not like ISA. I can tell you that there are differences of views and I can tell that majority of people today feels that because of existence of preventive laws (we have peace). Of course, among the intellectuals, the media and the academicians, the Act is outdated. (Syed Hamid on the ISA in the final of a three-part Malaysiakini interview)

Why is it that the home minister can speak for the majority? Is it because he thinks we have no brain? How can he tell that the majority feels that ISA has brought about peace? Was there an opinion poll carried out? Oh, by the way, isn't he insulting the majority when he says only the intellectuals, media and academicians are not for ISA?

Think about it. So, err...what do you, the majority, think?

CAN YOU SEE HIS BRAIN?

Janson's jab @ UKMSC

Appointment scheduled at 5 PM with Dr. Bilkis

(Weight & Height): 9.3 kg & 73 cm

Looooog wait...

Fourth jab @ Fourth visit

Oh, my love, my candle...- www.malaysiakini.com

Oh how my heart burnt when I read what the Home Minister said in an interview with Malaysiakini: For your information, all ministers of home affairs will never take a populist view. We are never popular but we are like a candle - we burn ourselves in order to protect society. And that is what my duty is, I must make sure that law and order is there. I must make sure there is no germination of a culture of hatred based on race, based on religion or based on culture.

And yes, the Home Minister had protected me from a six-year-old girl who wanted to submit a letter to the PM. Maybe, he was afraid that she would go around mailing letters that contained anthrax bacillus (Read 'Uthaya's niece, 11 others held' in Malaysiakini). Remember the anthrax scare in America post 911?

Funnily, my candle does not burn for me if ever I happen to walk on the street of Chow Kit. Why? Read 'Parliament: Cops scared of crooks, so based closed!(Updated)' in The Star Online.

Re-brand, rename, resign! - www.malaysiakini.com

Recently, a re-branding exercise undertaken by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) for Bukit Bintang aka 'Star Hill' that saw 'Jalan Alor' being renamed to 'Jalan Kejora', had created an uproar among the dozens of traders who sell local delicacies there. (Source: Malaysiakini)

"DBKL should name the street back to Jalan Alor and the city mayor, Abdul Hakim Borhan should resign for allowing this matter to take place," said Fong, MP for Bukit Bintang. He further condemned the move, which was made without the consent of the public and claimed that there were many quarters who were not satisfied with it. (Source: Malaysiakini)

My question is, 'Why is DBKL acting like it is the sole decision maker, the champion?' Kuala Lumpur is not a cowboy town ruled by one mayor. Kuala Lumpur is a city that belongs to the rakyat, the ordinary folk who work hard and pay taxes. Why does DBKL not have any respect for the locals who make a living along Jalan Alor?

Latest press freedom ranking: Malaysia fell 8 spots - www.malaysiakini.com

Malaysia crashed into the bottom quarter of 173 countries in the worldwide press freedom ranking index released today by Paris-based watchdog Reporters sans Frontieres (RSF, Reporters Without Borders). In the latest 2008 ranking, Malaysia fell eight spots to 132. Last year, it was placed 124th while in 2006, it was at 92. (Source: Malaysiakini)

If you notice, Singapore ranking is 'worse' than Malaysia but then again, the general perception is that Singapore practices good governance and meritocracy.

Why the fall for Malaysia? “In the face of mounting criticism, the government of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi reacted with a crackdown,” lamented RSF, referring to several incidences last year.

We Malaysians know too well how 'free' our mainstream media is. Even beloved Dr M was muzzled. Thus, he has resorted to blogging. Will Malaysia continue to fall further? Only time will tell.

Sini boleh tak? (Here can or not?)

That was the question I candidly posed to a Malay guy (actually, the driver of my wife's big boss) this morning as I pointed to him the news in theSun and said, 'PM masuk penjara.'

He smiled and said, matter-of-factly, 'Sini TAK boleh.'

Anwar is like a 'second-hand car'. Najib & Pak Lah? - www.malaysiakini.com

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has been compared to a 'second-hand car' trying to shed a mangled past and refurbish himself as the new champion of all Malaysians. Recalling Anwar's statements while in government more than 10 years ago, Salleh Kalbi (BN-Silam) said the former deputy prime minister was in Parliament for the second time in his life and trying to 'deceive' the people in Sarawak and Sabah into seeing him as their saviour. (Source: Malaysiakini)

Funny how our MPs run each other down in the august house.

If Anwar is a 'second-hand car', then I'd really like to think of Najib as a 'tainted Jeep' trying to go through the rough political terrain and get himself muddied by scandals.

How about Pak Lah? Not too difficult to guess. 'Junk car' lah. Who wants a 'junk car'? Total reject. So, there you have it. Anwar, a 'second-hand car'. Najib, a 'tainted Jeep' and Pak Lah, a 'junk car'. ;)

Money, money, money in the Umno world - www.malaysiakini.com

A veteran Umno leader today said he had been asked to pay for votes in an upcoming contest for top posts, and warned that money politics would destroy the organisation. Foreign Minister Rais Yatim said "the majority" of Umno members were more interested in making money out of the election than in voting for the right person. (Source: Malaysiakini)

"The majority"? Interesting. Hmm...How many % is "the majority"? I wonder. Maybe 51 % only lah.

"If Umno cannot curb this practice, Umno's future is done for because this has been (talked about) for the past two decades and it has not been curbed," he said.

Aha. Talked about for the past two decades. Let's see...who was at helm in Umno for the past two decades? Ok. Assume he was 'bersih, cekap, amanah'. How then could he condone corruption? Oh yes, I bet Rais wasn't prophesying when he said Umno's future was done for, in one word - DOOM.

No 1: Tee Keat. No 2: 'Scandalous' Soi Lek! - www.malaysiakini.com

live report Malaysiakini is bringing you 'live' reports from the MCA headquarters on the latest results of the hotly-contested party election.

It is now official. President: Ong Tee Keat. Deputy President: Chua Soi Lek. I think 'scandalous' Soi Lek has been 'redeemed'.

Malaysiakini reported at 7.45pm: Soi Lek, accompanied by his son, Labis MP Tee Yong, and a group of supporters enter the San Choon hall to observe the counting proceedings. He appears to be in a jovial mood.

Jovial mood? Perhaps he knew his destiny had arrived? I can't comment much on MCA politics but Soi Lek? All I can say he went through hell and back. Congratulations, Dr Chua!

JOKE OF THE YEAR: Umno is not a bully - www.malaysiakini.com

“Umno is not a ‘bully’ party, there is no such thing as bully, we are all friends,” Abdullah said in reply to a point raised by outgoing MCA president Ong Ka Ting in a farewell speech earlier. Elaborating later, Abdullah blamed the opposition for stirring up the issue and claimed parties such as the DAP wanted to see the split of the MCA or Gerakan. “Their (the opposition) work is to create hatred among BN component parties. “Do you think Ka Ting allows himself to be bullied? You think (MIC president S) Samy (Vellu) can be bullied?...” (Excerpts taken from Malaysiakini)

Ok, ok. Maybe Abdullah is correct. Umno is not a bully but like a big bro, a 'tai kor' in a friendship. The rest is lil bro. The friendship is a big-bro-says-so-you-have-to-follow relationship. IF the friendship is strong, no external attack will sink the 'ship' but why is the 'ship' giving way? Coz of internal cracks! Lastly, the biggest joke is him asking, You think (Gerakan president Dr Koh) Tsu Koon wants to be bullied?Answer is obviously no but then again, why was he 'bullied' not too long ago by Ahmad Ismail and his men? I think I don't need to elaborate further...

His name is Zonkey!!!!!!!

Do you geddit, MCA Youth? Position is not important! - www.malaysiakini.com

Proposal needs further study, says Hishammuddin - Malaysiakini. MCA Youth's proposal that Barisan Nasional create a second deputy chief's post needs further study and discussion, said BN Youth chief Hishammuddin Hussein today. He said the transformation of BN suggested by MCA was a proposal that needed to be discussed in depth by all the component parties.

*YAWN* I wonder how long the further study will take? Probably, 50 years. After that, another 50 years of discussion.

Hishammuddin went on to say, "But I appreciate MCA. They have not come out to say that they would pull out of BN. In fact they are committed to BN and want BN to be stronger. This is why they are making these proposals...they are with us through thick and thin." After the buttering up, he said, "But for me, I would say that position is not important..." In other words, he meant to say, 'Why you MCA Youth proposed? No need lah. We just need to understand and respect each other.'

MP's Beetle badly burnt at Snail River - www.malaysiakini.com

(Pictures from Malaysiakini)
Sungai Siput parliamentarian Dr D Jeyakumar's car was partially damaged in a suspected act of arson early this morning in his constituency. When contacted, the Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) leader accused his rivals in MIC of being responsible for this. In the March 8 general election, Jeyakumar had defeated MIC president S Samy Vellu in the parliamentary constituency in Perak, which the latter had controlled for more than three decades. The PSM leader said he believes that the same group that had set fire to his Volkswagen Beetle was also behind the harassment of his party members in the area. Read 'Sungai Siput MP's car torched' in Malaysiakini.

If his accusation is true, I won't be surprised. Like leader like follower. We know how the MIC top thug talks...

What really suprises me though is Dr D is still driving an old Beetle! Of course, I do not know if he owns any other cars besides the Beetle but I do know he looks so meek compared to 'mighty' Samy.

Banned but the banner of truth still flies high - www.malaysiakini.com

Malaysian Indian Business Association (Miba) president P Sivakumar speaks up in Malaysiakini:
"Banning Hindraf is one thing, but the mother of all Indian protests which happened in the March 8 general election, the Makkal Sakthi (people’s power), is the feeling of being sidelined under the New Economic Policy for far too long. "It is about the desire to be treated equally and to be given a fair share of opportunities in the civil, business and education sectors as well as the need to respect their places of worship in terms of indiscriminate demolitions," he said.

"These are the grouses of the community, no one can imprison this spirit," he stressed.

Well said, my fellow Malaysian. Hindraf is but a voice of the oppressed even though I do not agree with Hindraf's action to sue the British government for the community's marginalisation.I

I say, let Makkal Sakthi (people’s power) live on! Anak Bangsa Malaysia, jom ubah!

Zaki is the new Umno-linked CJ - www.malaysiakini.com

Rulers nominate Zaki as new CJ says Malaysiakini. The Conference of Rulers has today decided to stick to convention and name Court of Appeal president Zaki Azmi as the new chief justice to replace the retiring Abdul Hamid Mohamad. (Latest update: Zaki is new Chief Justice).

Reading the first para really puzzled me. Stick to convention? Sticking to convention doesn't equate to doing the right thing. Malaysiakini reported that a letter dated Oct 16 and written by opposition alliance Pakatan Rakyat had been sent to the king and all sultans, urging the rulers to consider the public opinion on the choice of a new chief justice...In recent days about 25,000 people have signed a petition to the king to object Zaki's elevation due to his involvement with Umno.

Why are the rulers more concerned for convention than the voice of the rakyat?

Convention is dead.
The voice of the rakyat is alive.
Justice shall resound throughout the land!

YB Teresa is now YB Josephine? - www.malaysiakini.com

It all started from a short story written by Chamil Wariya, which was published in Utusan Malaysia’s weekend edition Mingguan Malaysia. The short story entitled ‘Politik baru YB J’ relates how Alam Maya MP Josephine pushes for reform against race-based politics. Her revolutionary thinking eventually marks her out for assassination. Finally, she was gunned down by her own kind. The story says the murder was prompted by Josephine being “a threat to harmony” and therefore, “it was best to end her life so that the multiracial community may live in peace”. (Source: Malaysiakini - YB Teresa reserves suspicion on 'YB Josephine')

All I have to say is that you have to read the story in full in order to judge for yourself whether or not the fictional ‘YB Josephine’ was really developed around Seputeh DAP parliamentarian Teresa Kok. Personally, I see it as a 'veiled' threat to Teresa. Objectively, I see the author 'validating' murder on anyone who pushes for reform against race-based politics. No wonder Anwar once said the only thing that his opposition had stopped short of doing was to assassinate him. Interesting! ;-)

Najib, the NO-NO-NO man - www.malaysiakini.com

Speaking to reporters in Parliament today, Najib said no abuse of power in SMS when he was asked about his exchange of text-messages with lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah in relation to the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case. He also rejected the opposition's call for a fresh budget that addressed the current economic crisis. In other words, no need for fresh budget. He also said, "I would like to assuage the public that the government is on top of the situation. Although the situation is serious, there is no need for us to panic..."
(Read 'Najib: No abuse of power in SMS, will explain chopper deal' in Malaysiakini)

I'm not surprised but rather appalled by Najib's numbness. Conveniently, he said no.

He thinks the rakyat is so stupid as to accept his 'no' answer at face value.

If you ask me, he is certainly a NO-NO-NO man to be the next PM.

Did you go to Kampung Baru yesterday? Watch Malaysiakini.TV

Caltex Taman Paramount is a regular 'pit stop' that I go to besides Shell @ East-West Link Expressway. Tonight, I went to the former to pump petrol. I entered the kiosk to pay the cashier - a Malay bloke whom I had struck up an acquaintance with.

He asked me, 'Ada pergi Kampung Baru semalam?' Immediately, I knew he was was referring to Anwar's open house. So, I asked, 'Anwar's open house?' He smiled and nodded. He said there were a lot of people as well as a strong police presence.

Well, that conversation just led me to watch 'Thousands visit Anwar' - Malaysiakini.TV. Needless to say, there was a media conference held. Anwar said the finance minister was in denial of potential major financial crisis. He was also asked the question - 'Is the crossover still possible or will you have to take over through a general election?'. Again, he did not deny the possibility of a takeover by a vote of no confidence or by members of parliament who refused to support the govt.

String of SMS messages: Proof of Najib pulling strings? - www.malaysiakini.com

From Malaysiakini: Najib & Altantuya are back again in the spotlight. Making waves in cyberspace is an article entitled ‘Abuse of power by the deputy prime minister’ appearing in ISA detainee Raja Petra Kamarudin’s Malaysia Today website. The report reveals a string of SMS messages purportedly exchanged between Najib and lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah over a period of nearly one month, starting from Nov 8 to Dec 2, 2006...One of the text messages allegedly sent by Najib said that Razak “will face a tentative charge but all is not lost.”

Another SMS from Najib to Shafee:
Date: 17/11/2006 11:39:46

--> OK will try. Meanwhile try to console the wife. She is hysterical.

Incidentally, on 16/11/2006, Razak Baginda's wife said, “He is a good man. He is not the Prime Minister of this country. He doesn’t want to be one. “He is not interested in all that,” she said during an outburst in court before Abdul Razak was charged yesterday. (Source: Click here)

Was Najib afraid that there was going to be another outburst from the hysterical wife?

Finally, PM has conceded! - www.malaysiakini.com

Malaysiakini in 'PM: I cannot implement all reforms' quoted him as saying, '“We have promised many things that we want to do for the people. The 2004 election manifesto was well-received and we have promised to bring changes but I can’t implement all.”

That means you over promised and that means you 'bungkus' the rakyat. I am sure, after serving the country for donkey's years, you would have known if you could implement the changes. Why then did you promise what you knew very well you couldn't change?

The PM in his 30-minute speech in the annual Gerakan congress also said he could not understand why certain BN leaders were acting like they have lost the March general election.

If the elections were 100% free and fair, I doubt that the government of today would be led by BN. What's wrong with losing? Is BN too proud to lose and cannot accept reality? Face the truth LAH!

Dream on, baby! - www.malaysiakini.com

I was amused to read Koh: Take baby steps towards full BN merger in Malaysiakini. Gerakan newly-minted president Dr Koh Tsu Koon said that efforts to merge the 13 Barisan Nasional coalition partners into a single entity representing all ethnic groups would require baby steps.

Let me ask, 'How many baby steps will it take for BN to 'morph' into a single entity? And how many years?'

Koh also said that the party grassroots and the public should give time for BN and Gerakan to reform but refused to set a time frame. “It is like a relationship. When you go out with a girlfriend, you don’t say I want to get married in two months. My goodness!” he said.

My goodness! A couple who is seriously dating will eventually set a date to get married. I thought Dr. Koh should know better since he is a married man. Man, where is Gerakan moving to...?

Finally, good news!

Malaysia buffered while others buffeted - www.malaysiakini.com

Don't worry about the latest financial crisis striking across the US and Europe. Trust me.

Excerpts from Malaysiakini: Finance Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Second Finance Minister Nor Mohamed Yakcob have recently issued reassurances the country was well buffered and said Malaysia enjoyed strong economic fundamentals, financial markets and infrastructure that would increase its resilience to any external shock.
In Asia, India, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China have also put in place measures to deflect off the worst effects of the global financial crisis. Whilst in Singapore, the government has already declared a state of recession.

So, relax lah. The Finance Minister, the one who asked the rakyat to change lifestyle, has reassured us. Continue to enjoy lah. Pergi makan angin, spend your money. If money not enough, borrow money. If cannot borrow money, then just live on air, water and sunshine - what a healthy lifestlye!

Who wants Najib for No 1? - www.malaysiakini.com

Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today announced he will contest the Umno presidency, a day after Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he would not defend the post...So far, for the No 1 post, only Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has declared his interest in challenging Najib...By convention, the Umno president and deputy president respectively become the prime minister and deputy prime minister.

The three sentences above, as reported by Malaysiakini in 'Najib for No 1, Mat Taib for No 2', could spell more gloom for Malaysia IF Najib becomes the prime minister.

September is over and past and gone. Now is October, the tenth month of the year. Let me take you back in time to the the tenth day of the Altantuya trial on June 29, 2007.

Altantuya Shaariibuu’s cousin told the High Court here today that in August 2005, Abdul Razak Baginda and Altantuya were still having a relationship as they travelled to “Europe, France and Italy” together.

Burmaa Oyunchimeg, who is also known as Amy, 26, in reply to a question from the prosecution, said Altantuya had shown her a photograph of her with Abdul Razak and Malaysian government officials.

Burmaa: There was a picture of Altantuya having a meal on a roundtable. Altantuya having a meal with Razak Baginda and Malaysian government officials and other people.

Karpal: Who were the government officials in the photograph?

Burmaa: Najib Razak. I remember the name Najib Razak. I remember Razak is the same name. I asked her (Altantuya) ‘are they brothers’ because they have same name. - The Sun

Pak Lah: Always hoping, ever promising - www.malaysiakini.com

In a brief question-and-answer session with journalists after his 90-minute meeting with the Barisan Nasional component party leaders, Pak Lah said, 'I hope it is Najib.' when he was asked 'Who is your successor?' (Source: Malaysiakini)

This is one problem with Pak Lah - always hoping. Malaysians had a lot of hope in Pak Lah. We remember his famous catchphrase - 'Work with me, not for me.' Even Zaid Ibrahim was hopeful and wanted to work with Pak Lah. We all know that finally he broke up with Pak Lah. Hehe...

'I plan to complete my vision' is the title given by Malaysiakini for Pak Lah's press statement to announce his decision to step down next March. Before stepping down, he promises to table a Parliamentary Bill to establish a Judicial Appointments Commission and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Again, he's ever promising. I think his promise is too little too late. Tabling these two Parliamentary Bills is but the first step to reform...

31 is Anwar's lucky number, 13 Abdullah's - www.malaysiakini.com

Anwars says he still has the numbers, says Malaysiakini. Despite the delay in his plans, the 31 lawmakers "have given me their support and they have not reneged on their support," he said.

An official from Anwar's PKR party said the strategies included seeking an audience with Malaysia's king, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, to claim a mandate to rule. Parliament resumes next Monday and the defecting lawmakers could physically cross the floor to show a change in allegiance.

Yes, next Monday is October 13 and '13' is known to be Abdullah's lucky number. Should he decide not to quit but stay as Umno President, will he be facing the 31 defectors on October 13 in Parliament?

Anwar is now playing the number game. Will it be GAME OVER for Pak Lah on Oct 9 or Oct 13?

Where do I get my hair cut?

Where else but at 'Jurugaya Rambut WATIAR'! Translated to English - 'WATIAR Hairstylist'. I don't know what 'WATIAR' means. Maybe it's the name of its owner.

The owner is a Malaysian Indian whereas the resident barber is of Indian nationality.

What I like about going to this hair saloon is that firstly, I don't have to wait long. Secondly, the barber gives you a good neck twist after the haircut.

Lastly and most importantly, I have only paid RM9 for every visit for the past 7 consecutive years.

Even though the haircut may not be stylish or 'IN', I am the least bothered as long as it is CHEAP.

The price of everything else is going up except my haircut!

Justice Komathy, a judge of bravery! - www.malaysiakini.com

I am certain that it was not easy for Sessions Court judge SM Komathy Suppiah to have decided to reject the prosecution's bid to to transfer Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy case to a higher court, which opposition supporters fear could be politically motivated.

Before delivering her ruling today, justice Komathy had turned towards lead prosecutor Mohd Yusof and dropped a remark puzzling those in court.

"Do I look nervous? I am," she said, without elaborating. (Click here for more in Malaysiakini!)

Her confession speaks for itself. Why was she nervous? Could it be that she knew that she had to face the consequence? Something unpleasant? Something bad? Of course, a judge has no liberty to reveal 'dark' secrets to the public. Did she receive any undue pressure or threat prior to her decision? I wonder...all I know that she is brave to do what she does best - to deliver justice! YEAH

DEEPAVALI DEADLINE - www.malaysiakini.com

From Malaysiakini:
Are BN leaders prepared to make a stand to demand support from Umno leaders and ministers in cabinet and the BN supreme council that the five Hindraf leaders held under the Internal Security Act (ISA) be released before Deepavali on Oct 28? Are they prepared to also call for the unconditional release of controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin and all other ISA detainees?
The questions were posed by DAP supremo and Ipoh Timur MP Lim Kit Siang.

The challenge thrown by YB Lim Kit Siang is indeed timely. There is no better time to release ALL ISA detainees than Deepavali. Firstly, the Hindraf 5 are of Hindu faith. Secondly, Deepavali celebrates the triumph of good over evil.

ISA is evil. IF the BN government releases all detainees, it will return with a sweeping victory in the next general election but then again, I doubt BN will do it. BN=ISA=EVIL. WUAHAHAHAHAH

First witness in sedition trial is also a reader of Malaysia Today - www.malaysiakini.com

Picture & excerpts from Malaysiakini - 'Raja Petra in PJ to face sedition charge':
Harme Mohamed, a 39-year-old information technology expert from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), informing the court about websites and how these were operated, was the first witness who took the stand in the sedition trial of Raja Petra Kamarudin...During the cross-examination session by RPK's counsel J Chandra, it was also revealed that Harme, is a Malaysia Today reader since 2007 and browsed through the contents to the website at least once a week. To Chandra's suggestions, on his impression on the web portal, he answered positively that the contents of the website "condones corruption, denounce money-politics, denounce ethnic polarisation, advocates transparency, accountability and justice".

WOAH. Sounds like Harme is not only a reader of MT but he also subscribes to its opinions. I bet his testimony was the FIRST BLOW to the prosecutor. Will there be MORE BLOWS to come?
By the way, you can still access Malaysia Today by clicking here.

Supernatural sustenance

8 Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 9 “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” 10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” 11 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”
12 So she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”
13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. 14 For thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.’”
15 So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah.

Sabah: 285% population growth over 30 years!!! - www.malaysiakini.com

Yes, Sabah is the state with the highest population growth due to the issue of illegal immigrants. Added to that, these illegal immigrants have been given 'legal' status with the issuance of dubious MyKads.

Malaysiakini today in 'MP shares surname, address with Filipino' reported that Sabah Progressive Party (Sapp) parliamentarian Eric Majimbun got a rude shock recently when he discovered that he shared the same surname and address in a MyKad allegedly belonging to a Filipino illegal immigrant. The Sapp MP wants answers from the Home Ministry and the National Registration Department (NRD) on how the man had obtained the identity card, or MyKad.

I wonder, in the very first place, how could these dubious MyKads be issued so easily? Were they given free? Someone must be getting $$$ somewhere. Isn't it high time for ACA to investigate the NRD/departments/agencies under the Home Ministry? What has Syed Hamid Albar been doing??
