The acquitted Abdul Razak had a press conference (pc) today. Questions asked covered a wide array of issues - SMS exchanges involving his lawyer and Najib, his faith in the legal system, his relationship with Najib and Altantuya, private investigator Balasubramaniam’s statutory declaration, the alleged arms deal and his time in and now out of prison. He only had one word for all these issues - LIES. Most indebted to Najib and his wife, he said, "I implore all of you and the public to stop spreading lies about Najib and his wife. I know Najib and his wife had never met the deceased, Altantuya..." Also, at the pc, he was scathing of the blogsphere for spreading lies. (Malaysiakini - Abdul Razak: Najib not involved)
I agree. So, let us turn to the truth as reported, not by blogs but online news portal. Malaysian National News Agency BERNAMA reported on June 30, 2007 19:18 PM: In the high-profile murder trial yesterday, Altantuya's cousin, Burmaa Oyunchimeg, 26, told the court that she had seen a picture of Altantuya having a meal in the same table with political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, 46, and a Malaysian government official who is known by the name of "Najib Razak" and several others.
Abdul Razak said at the pc, "...There was a media, a reputable one which claim I met her over dinner. Where did that come from. Let’s leave it at that." (Was he referring to BERNAMA?)
Let me list at least three more non-blogs site that reported on Burmaa's revelation:
1. The Malaysian Bar - Najib seen with Altantuya
2. Asia Sentinel - Malaysia's Missing Witness
3. The Electric New Paper - 'Shut up', 'sit down' - lawyers slug it out in court
