The 'Ketuanan Melayu' model has failed, declared former de facto law minister Zaid Ibrahim in an incisive speech at the LawAsia 2008 conference in Kuala Lumpur this morning. "It has resulted in waste of crucial resources, energy and time and has distracted from the real issues confronting the country," said Zaid, who criticised the race-based policy despite being a member of the ruling Umno party which was set up to safeguard Malay interests...Zaid also criticised Mukhriz for his remark that there was no need for law and judicial reforms as it would not benefit the Malays. Mukhriz exact words as reported in The Star Online: “Zaid claimed he wanted to reform the system and to save Umno but I don’t see how all the issues he mentioned will benefit the Malays or Umno.”
Ahh...as long as it does not benefit Umno, nothing will happen. We know. Race is only an 'excuse'. IF Umno-led BN did heed and act on the call for reforms, it would have struck a magnanimous chord in the rakyat's heart and mind. But no. It is still in denial and will soon sink into oblivion.

Zaid Ibrahim is indeed a very brave man and if there are more Malays like him, then we won't have the very serious problems that UMNO has caused us to have for the past 50 years. Zaid Ibrahim like the growing number of Malays such as Haris Ibrahim, Farish Noor, Azly Rahman, Bakri Musa would no doubt be stigmatised by UMNO and their cybertroopers like deminegara as "pengkhianat" or traitors to the Malays, just because they are able to separate the wood from the trees

I grew up with so many Malay friends and love them like family.Umno by its racist policy has divided us just so it can stay in power !
Datuk Zaid Ibrahim will make an excellent PM Malaysia.
Now Umno is interfering in the judiciary as seen bt the acquittal of Razak Baginda when all motives for killing Altantuya point to him & we all know who !!!
