Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar revealed that the police last met 'missing' private investigator S Balasubramaniam in Bangkok on July 7 in his Parliamentary written reply to Tian Chua (PKR-Batu) dated Nov 13...The minister added that the police had never been involved in any form of protection for Balasubramaniam who was a star witness in the murder trial of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu. He later released a controversial statutory declaration claiming that there was a link between Altantuya and Deputy PM Najib Abdul Razak. The statutory declaration was retracted a day later under strange circumstances and Balasubramaniam went 'missing' with his entire family immediately after. In his written reply, Syed Hamid also indicated that Balasubramaniam may be charged for making a false statutory declaration. (Source: Malaysiakini)
Poor Bala. He was a star witness. Now, he is a hidden star. I put my hat off to him for being a Braveheart. Though a commoner, his first SD could have been deadly enough to topple BN's rule. Will he be brought back to face his charge or can Bala make a third SD to strike out the second SD?
