Govt still in denial over economy? Wait and see lah...- www.malaysiakini.com

Malaysiakini reported, '...Bukit Bendera member of parliament Liew Chin Tong rapped the BN-led government for not heeding the numerous calls from all quarters, including the opposition, for effective steps to tame the impact of a volatile global economy on the local market. "Indeed, the Putrajaya administration seems to be in a state of denial that Malaysia would be exempted from the economic turmoil while governments all over the world are stepping up their action plans on an almost daily basis," he said in a press statement today.'

If governments all over the world are stepping up their action plans on an almost daily basis, then ours is on a 'wait-and-see' basis. Well, in the words of our not-so-newly-minted Finance Minister - “Wait for my speech in Parliament on Nov 4. I will announce several government measures to overcome the financial crisis.” (Source: The Star Online)

I bet most Malaysians just can't wait to hear the speech, right? Will it be an 'action-packed' one?

Who said malaysia is facing a very terrible economic crisis ? By all visible criteria everybody in selangor and kl is enjoying life.None of the 3.2 million foregner non citizens have been retrenched.None have been sent back. The banks and insurance cos are not getting long lines of withdrawals. The airports are full.1,100 Singapore registered vehicles have been detained in JB to pay up traffic offences.Hypermarkets are going like gangbusters advertising slashed prices.Plenty of CPO and cooking oil available.Pictures of unending open houses splash the media.Highways in KL are chokerblock jamedpacked.new cars and new models are being sold and registerd.Petaling Street is no longer Chinatown but Bangla and Nepal Towns. We will see a crisis only when some or all of the above is reversed. The government has not announced any spending cuts and cost reduction programmes. No private sector entity annouced freeze in hiring. In my opinion (RPK said every has one) there is a black market parralel ecomony that supports 18billion RM remiitances to foreign countries from 3.2 million foregners.that's why there is no crisis in malaysia.
