KK Eswaran, the president of the Indian-based business group, the Malaysian Associated Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Maicci), has lashed out at government critics for negative remarks on the country’s leadership. The activities of banned movement Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leader P Waythamoorthy and Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) commissioner Denison Jayasooria, topped Eswaran's grievances.
Asked about the perception of the Indian community on the matter of marginalisation and their doubts on the BN-led government, Eswaran said: “There is a proper way in approaching the government...and it is not by demonstration and taking to the streets”. Eswaran stressed that the Maicci had many successful encounters with government and accomplished many feats via dialogue sessions and meetings. “For instance, when we approached the deputy prime minister to sort the scrap-metal licensing problem...he promised he will take the issue to the cabinet and it was solved not long after,” said Eswaran.
Moreover, he said that the public have got to stop thinking that the government should “spoon-feed” them with opportunities and embark on their own efforts to improve their wealth. “Is the opposition as multi-racial as they promised...look at what happened in Selangor,” said Eswaran referring to the replacement of Low as the acting general manager of Selangor Development Corporation (PKNS). Beginning Feb 1, Low's position would be taken over by Othman Omar following controversies on the grounds that she is Chinese. “The BN government is the only government that can lead this multi-racial country ... although we must have an opposition, it must be an opposition that is genuine to the people,” he said.

Man, where did this fellow come from suddenly? Slamming gov't critics aside, I think this fellow should put himself in the shoes of the poor. Maybe he is where he is today because he is well-connected. Well, we all know that doing business in Malaysia is not only about what you know but also WHO you know.

I was totally disgusted with Malaysiakini for interviewing a tainted character like Eswaran.So what if he is the president of Maicci.Let me tell the readers a little bit of this man.This is not a character assasination as what Eswaran was doing throughout the interview.This is just to let people know,the sort of people we have as leaders and has the audacity to condemn others who are genuinely and tirelessly working for human rights.
This former driver allegedly had an affair with his former boss' wife and eventually married her.If my memory serves me right,that lady is the daughter or grand-daughter of Mun Loong's boss.Thus he inherited millions and got the right connections to thrive.He was also the owner of 2 pubs in the `Best World'shopping complex which he also owned in JB,which is now a white elephant,at least till 2 years ago.I have personally seen him walking in those pubs virtually surrounded by thugs or `body guards'.His association with thugs,is known to many at least in the JB circle.
Now,how on earth a man of such character could call people like Wayhthamoorthy and Dr.Denisson Jayasooriya,who are intellectuals as misleading the people?What has Eswaran done to help those marginalized people?He is ranting about,`proper way'can he tell us what is that way?Didnt he know that,all the `proper way'enggaged by Waytha and Uthaya,were literally shut by UMNOputras,and the plea fell on deaf ears?Even in parliament,when the question is raised,its not allowed or the MP gets suspended.Then what proper way is this man talking about?
Who is this character to speak for others and say that people are living happily in malaysia for 50 years?Ofcourse with his ill-gotten money,may be he and his cronies are happy,the rest esp the poors are surpressed and never allowed to speakup by UMNO and MIC,is this happiness?About scrap metal,he thinks the problems facing the indians can be solved by him getting these licenses.By the way,in the first place why should the govt,stop issuing those licenses,and why it took more than 2 years for the `caring' govt to issue it again?Does he think the bumis have to beg like this?The credit is not yours Eswaran,the credit goes to makkhal sakthi and those poor 30000 people whom you called went to the streets.Yes Wayhta and others with him are their beacon of light,and dont you ever try your cheap publicity stunts and we know you are the new running dog for UMNO.
If you really a true gentleman,than stop your nonsensical rhetoric, character assasination and finger pointing and speak to your caring govt and apart from those crumbs like scrap metal license,do the following:
;get all those poor kids and people who are stateless,their papers
;make sure the poor and deserving indian students get their rightful places in the universities and scholarships
;get them loans and business licences for all other sectors too
;see that no more temples are demolished
;see that the indians are given a wider chance of joining the public sector.
;get govt aid for all tamil schools in malaysia;
;see that there is no more`selective genocide'of indians in police lockups
;get proper housing and wages for those poorest of poorest malaysians in the estates
Eswaran,since you have successfully approached the umno putras in your `proper way'now show all of us,that `proper way'.Our chinese,kadazan,bidayuh and poor kampung malay sisters and brothers too would be able to join you.Walk the talk now and dont be another running dog of the govt and dont show your arrogance,we know you are multi millionaire.Just do it.
