Anwar gives statement
> Shazryl challenges opposition leader to swear he was not man in video
KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader Datuk
Seri Anwar Ibrahim was at the Dang Wangi
police station yesterday to give a statement in
connection with a sex video portraying a
character allegedly resembling him.
He arrived at 2.50pm with his wife Datin Seri
Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and brother-in-law
Wan Mokhtar Wan Ismail.
The video was screened for a select group of
media representatives at Carcosa Seri Negara
here on March 21 by a group known as “Datuk T
(trio)”, made up of former Melaka chief
minister Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik,
businessman Shazryl Eskay and Perkasa
treasurer Datuk Shuib Lazim. Police began
investigations into the video after Anwar
lodged a report denying he was the man
in it.
Shazryl meanwhile yesterday challenged
Anwar to swear that he was not the man in the
video. He also told a press conference here that
he would take an oath after Friday prayers at
the Sentul Amru Al-As Mosque that he was
speaking the truth when he said Anwar is the
man in the video.
“I dare to swear because I was at the location
at which the video was taped. I also want to
invite all those who doubt the truth to be
present,” he said.
Shazryl denied that Datuk T was involved in
the distribution of sex video clips and said he
would leave it to the police to investigate the
matter, Bernama reported.
On Wednesday, two sex video clips of the
man apparently resembling Anwar and a
woman said to be of Chinese nationality were
spread on YouTube and aired on prime time
news. It was the second segment of the video
recording to be released. The first is still under
investigation. Questions have been raised on
how video clips under police investigation
could be leaked.
