Police will be investigating the latest expose made by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, who had disclaimed any responsibility for accusations that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor were involved in the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Inspector-general of police Ismail Omar said police have yet to receive any report over the matter.

“What I have read is basically what is already reported in the newspapers today. However, we will investigate this latest development,” he said.

When asked as to whether police investigations would include the statutory declaration made by the blogger, Ismail said it (statutory declaration) would be looked into.

Last night, in an exclusive interview with TV3's editor Ashraf Abdullah, Raja Petra had disclaimed any responsibility for accusations that Najib and Rosmah, were involved in Altantuya's murder.

Raja Petra, who is also the Malaysia Today webmaster, also turned the tables on opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim - with whom he has long been associated - by claiming people close to Anwar were behind the accusations against Najib to prevent him from succeeding Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as prime minister.

“I have never accused the prime minister or his wife as being involved in the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case,” Raja Petra was recorded as telling Ashraf in Perth, Australia.

In Raja Petra's blog posting today, entitled - 'Now that the shit has hit the fan' - the controversial blogger and webmaster unleashed yet another bombshell by implicating one of Umno's stalwart figures, a venerated member of Malaysia's aristocracy, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Raja Petra said he was asked to do this for the benefit of promoting the Kelantan prince and that he had made this expose for wanting the police to reinvestigate his statutory declaration.

Cops close to wrapping up Customs man's death

Ismail was also asked as to the development into police investigations into the sudden death of Selangor Customs assistant director Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed. He replied that police are close to wrapping up investigations into the case.

“We hope to wrap it up soon, by next week. I urge the public to refrain from making any speculation about the case,” he said.

It is learnt police have recorded statements from 40 individuals regarding the incident.

Ahmad Sarbani had gone to the Federal Territory Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office last Wednesday, after which he was found to have mysteriously died after falling from the third floor. Police have classified the case as sudden death.

However, friends of Ahmad Sarbani had ruled out suicide and felt his death was a result of foul play.
