KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — Police investigations into a new “teaser” of the sex video implicating Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim have already begun, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said today. Khalid said police together with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) are determining the identities of those behind the uploading of the clip on broadcast site YouTube.“We, together with MCMC, have started investigation to identify those that are responsible for uploading the video clip so that is all that I want to comment.
“No report has been lodged yet but it is not necessary for reports to be lodged for us to commence the investigation,” he told reporters during a press conference at Bukit Aman.
The one-minute-47-second clip, titled “Papa Nurul Part II”, was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday.
It showed a towel-clad man and a naked woman in a hotel room. The man first emerges from what looks like a toilet, dressed in nothing but a towel.
He places his clothes on the bed before passing something that resembles another towel to the naked woman, who takes it, rummages through a bag by the bedside, then walks to the toilet.
The slightly pot-bellied man is seen patting himself dry before donning his clothes — a white T-shirt, a pair of boxer shorts and slacks. He then leaves the room and the clip ends.
The first teaser surfaced on the Internet earlier this month, just two days after the police said the video they had received was not doctored.
The full 21-minute recording was first aired to reporters at the prestigious Carcosa Seri Negara hotel on March 21 by a man who identified himself as “Datuk T”.
Shortly after the screnning, it was revealed that “Datuk T” was a moniker that collectively referred to businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay, former Malacca chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Tamby Chik and Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuib Lazim.
During a March 24 press conference, Abdul Rahim said the video was exposed to show “a man who wants to be prime minister is not qualified.”
On April 18, Shazryl said that he would take sole responsibility for the sex video screening when responding to a statement made by CID deputy chief Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani that police had concluded their investigation into the sex video.
Shazryl also said the only copy of the video had been surrendered to the police.
Acryl had said the police had wrapped up their investigations under the Penal Code for the distribution of obscene material and the investigation papers would be sent to the Attorney-General’s ChambersHe also said the identity of the owner of the Omega watch alleged by Shazryl to have been worn by the man in the video was not central to the case.
Anwar has since avoided questions on the whereabouts of his Omega watch, fuelling speculation that he is the man in the video.
Yesterday, Shazryl gave his DNA sample to the police to assist in the ongoing probe.
The police are investigating the trio under Section 292 of the Penal Code for screening pornographic material.
Khalid also said that it was a normal investigation procedure to call Anwar for his second statement.
“It is just process of investigation. There are things which the prosecutor sees more than the investigator, that is why he wants more detail investigation in certain areas,” he added.
Anwar will be giving his statement to the police later today regarding the police report he lodged last month against the video screening at Carcosa Seri Negara.
Oh why can't the police make sure there was no leak when the one and only copy of the video had been surrendered to them?!
LOUSY POLICE!
