Leaked video not from cops. So, it must be from Datuk T, Umno & Perkasa

April 05, 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 — Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar denied today that the two-minute internet clip of the video allegedly showing Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim having sex was leaked from the police.
When asked how the snippet was leaked as the mysterious trio known as “Datuk T” have said the only copy is with the police, he replied: “That’s what he says.”
“Of course it did not come from us. That is illegal and immoral. How can I allow such a thing?” Ismail (picture) said.
“We don’t know where the video came from. Who uploaded it, we don’t know,” Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein added at a press conference here.
A 107-second clip was uploaded to YouTube on Sunday showing two men and a woman before the alleged sex act. It was later taken off for violating YouTube’s policy on nudity or sexual content.
However, several pro-Umno blogs have uploaded the video to their own websites.
The uploaded video had a white strip at the bottom with Thai script written on it saying “Phaholyothin Road Bangkok, Thailand 10400, Copyright 2011.”
The strip was not on the version that first surfaced and originally shown to reporters two weeks ago at Carcosa Seri Negara here.
Businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, one of the three men who claimed to be the mysterious “Datuk T” that exposed the video, told The Malaysian Insider that they had not released the video to anyone and that the only copy remained with the police.
“I don’t know anything about this,” Shazryl said, before stating that he would need to see the clip before commenting further.
Opposition Leader Anwar has denied he is the man in the video and accused Umno of a politically motivated “scurrilous attack” on him.
The involvement of former Umno Youth chief Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuib Lazim has lent credence to the claim as Umno sought to distance itself from the 21-minute video.
The clip has surfaced on the Internet just two days after police said the video they received was not doctored.
During a March 24 press conference, Abdul Rahim said the video was exposed to show “a man who wants to be prime minister is not qualified.”
A recent opinion poll found that 51 per cent of those surveyed did not believe Anwar was the man in the video, with 39 per cent saying Barisan Nasional had masterminded the video — more than twice as many as those who said the ruling coalition was not involved.
